Hi TPE,
I was playing a $5 MicroMillions and played this hand against an active player. Unfortunately my HUD is not working ATM but I would guess he was playing about 30/25ish. Also seems quite active post. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Off topic… but hiding results are a good idea to hear people do a bit more ranging without knowing your about to get coolered.
Andrew if this guy is 30/25… Maybe he’s a bit higher… Would putting AJ in 3b range be too wide? Or is flatting better since we’re gonna be well ahead of his opening range?
As Andrew says river spot is interesting cause I’m not sure what value target could be. KJ and QJ can be targets earlier in the hand, however, now you have to be targeting… I don’t know what you’re targeting…

Nah, I almost mentioned that myself. A few things I'd look at before 3betting are his Call 3B% (this is a better hand to 3b vs players who call a lot of 3bs as opposed to those who tend to 4b or fold) and his raise first in from this position specifically. But yeah, I think 3betting is a very viable option preflop.

What was your value target?
Hi Andrew and Lapp,
Thanks for the replys.
My value target was KJ, QJ and some chance of AK and AQ. My thinking being he may have double barrelled and then backed into TPTK and didn't want to give it away. At this level after betting over half their stack villians seem to call off light at times, although I'm not trying to justify my play. The more I think about it my value target(s) may be too narrow.
3betting pre and raising flop and turn also figured in my thinking throughout the hand. The more I thought about it afterwards the more I questioned each street and posted here for help from TPE.

I think your decisions are at least somewhat close at all points, especially before the river. Although you're right that AK/AQ are possible, this board isn't the most common for them to double barrel, and I think the chance that you're up against a set/flush may outweigh the chance that you're up against AK/AQ. Remember that when you shove the river, you have to be ahead of his calling range, not his betting range. Even there, though, I don't think it's a terrible shove by any means.

Thanks Andrew. I wasn't focused on his calling range at all. A leak I need to fix.

Any problem w raising flop Andrew? It seems like if target is KJ QJ these hands are gonna call anyways… Sets are also gonna call… We have a J so only one combo of JJ, 8 QJs and 8 KJs, 3 combos each of 22 and 66… 7 set combos vs 16 KJ QJ… Throw in J10 and you get 24 we beat vs 7 we don’t. If I raise he calls…
Turn 9c… Id expect a check here almost every time. I’d x back.
River now we can expect to get value from all worse and more than likely only get bets from better hands. I wouldn’t be too concerned about him betting since we’re not folding to a bet anyways. I just don’t think I’m raising…
Would this line be worse?
