Hey guys (and girls)

I’m relativley new here and I’m looking to improve my poker game. The trouble is i seem to be stuck in the micro stakes I am down about $300 in 3k games and really want to change this around. Could any of you who read this help me out on how to escape the micros, even if it is just suggesting useful videos I am happy with anything. My aim by the end of this months subscription is to have turned round my game and even if that means not making back the money i have lost so long as i know I am doing things right the money will come.

If you want any more details just leave a reply, i will happily answer all your questions.

Good luck to all of you.

Matt

I suggest to you all of Andrew Brokos videos, haven´t watched many of the others, but Andrew makes very good videos, is very heavy of information tow, you should watch and rewatch several times.

Also do some HH review, and play with ranges tools, some equity calculators… Participate more on the forum as well smile

I wrote a long post here but it deleted itself, ugh.

Anyway, welcome!

There are a lot of misunderstandings about building a bankroll from the micros. It’s a lot more difficult than it used to be, and it’s about equal parts performance and game selection.

Think of it like starting a business in real life – you could be the best business manager in the world, but if you’re in an unprofitable market you won’t make any money.

Choose games with small fields and soft players when you first start out – that’s your best chance of making some money. You don’t want to get stuck trying to bink a $5k score in 5,000-player fields since that’s astronomically unlikely even if you’re a good player already.

Consider SNGs or small fields on PartyPoker or 888 if you haven’t already – PokerStars microstakes games have massive fields. Focus on small, soft fields and you’ll find your bankroll grows quicker.

Don’t think too much about results, either. It’s not about recovering lost money, it’s about making the best decisions possible at each point. After that, money takes care of itself.

Good luck!

Really informative post there, thanks a lot. I guess I do tend to play the big fields on stars too much, I do play SNG’s too but dont find them as enjoyable as MTT’s. I will try out 888 for sure, guess I will have to purchase PT4 or HM2 as jivaro doesnt work over there

If you haven’t already looked at your own results on sharkscope or pokerprolabs then its worth a look, good to see where your winning or losing and from which game types/buy ins. I still hate looking at my graph but it peaked after I joined herewink
