I have noticed over the past several weeks that my sessions can be completely dominated by my frame of mind going in. When I am hyper focused and relaxed I tend to play much better and run much deeper than when I am not. I was curious how the pro's manage this or are things more automatic for much more of the tourney requiring that focus only much later. Curious how you guys approach the mental side of the game. Thanks!
sleep and diet are crucial and prolly the most overlooked aspect of the game. i try to have a set schedule as well but if the previous session went way over due to along run and i set my schedule to play the following day i have no problem staying away from that session if im tired. and eating properly is key as well because there is nothing worse than hunger pains while your trying to focus on cards. never play cause you feel you have to, play because you want to.

+1 to diet and exercise.
multi-vitamin, vitamin d supplement, and omega 3 oil capsules.
for food no grains and lots of animal fat/saturated fat. eggs and bacon in the morning with tomato diced and mixed into it for balance.
salad with chicken in it for lunch and extra virgin olive oil for dressing… no ranch or any of that crap.
steak, salmon, chicken, whatever for dinner.
that's a pretty solid diet if you can stick to it. the first couple days you might feel more tired but that's due to taking out the grains. after that you'll have more energy. and water > anything caffeine.
having a lot of caffeine is like having someone pogo stick on your adrenal glan.

I have the same thing. I'm playing on autopilot a lot and try to focus a 100% when I get a little deeper. However sometimes I never reach my a-game during a session. I prolly miss a lot of spots or make the same kind of errors becouse I don't think things through. I have a few tricks that help me play better during a session:
-Open up a blank Microsoft Word doc and copy/paste interesting HHs and review them later
-Analyse hands out loud while playing them
-No skype, aim, MSN during the session (often fail at this)
-Keep thinking if ur lines are the best possible to your knowledge, or you would play it differently in the future.
I heard gboro puts a notepad next to his pc and writes information he notices about gameflow and is looking for ways to improve, do other players do this stuff?
