Preflop I think I really botched this hand because, beyond being a comfortable open fold, my 4bet sizing HAS to be larger to generate folds. I've been experimenting with smaller c-bet sizings with mixed results. I think on this board I don't care for the small sizing, since it makes it cheaper for him to float/draw/call-decide/semi-bluff raise and we want folds. At the same time it serves as a blocker bet since we have backdoors/gutshot with a disguised hand (more disguised if I sized properly pre). I feel like (as played) turn could be a check call but kinda barf if he goes big? Playing OOP sucks. Would love thoughts on all streets. I think suited this is an easy open but off-suit just chuck it.

Note: Pre-ante my standard open raise is 3x and once antes kick in I go anywhere between 2-3x depending on the table, usually always 2x once we get to 100/200 but starting to see the merit in mixing it up more throughout the whole tournament.

This isn't a problem of sizing, you picked a bad hand to 4-bet. You should certainly bet again here with the amount of equity that you have, and in fact you've gotten lucky to get a runout that gives you a lot of equity to bluff with. The problem with using J9o as a 4-betting hand is that you'll rarely make either a strong made hand or a strong draw, and those are the two best types of hands to have in large pots, especially when out of position.

As played (poorly preflop), what is the best turn line? Spoiler at end of this post.

How would we respond to these turns instead?

1) Any heart, and in particular Aheart or Kheart

2) Any 8

3) Any 9

4) Any Jack

Please let me know if this style of post is discouraged; I'm new here!

Much appreciated if anyone has advice for converting Merge hand histories so that player names are converted to position.

Not discouraged, I think your second post in particular is a good way of discussing these things, much more valuable to think in terms of how turn card affects strategy than just “what should I do in this one exact spot?” I think I'd check the 9, which gives you a decent pair and also puts a 4-straight on the board, but bet the others.
