heeeey 😀

no reads.

I decided to limp along here which is totally fine as played but i actually would not mind raising it up pre either because if we hit our set it becomes even more unlikely anyone would put us on it,  as usually players tend to limp along with small pairs rather then raise /iso with them!

post flop , otf thoughts on the call?

when v checks back turn , i was very sure that they never had Ax , now i’m not sure if they’ll be KK/QQ/JJ/TT  or medium pairs on this flop, i reckon if they had those hands they would likely check as they become rather marginal.

as for the river i was wondering do we turn our hand into a bluff to get v to fold maybe pp better then our hand which they may have bet with otf? or hands like Jx?  or do you think our hand has too much STV for it to be turned into a bluff?

cheers 🙂

Your line OOP seems standard to me.

If V didn’t have you on the flop then V only has 6 outs to a higher pair so the J doesn’t scare me that much. I’d c/c most bets by V.

I think V bets a lot on the turn with any pairs when you check, and if not, calls most river bets, so it is hard for me to think you can bluff him off a higher pair.

I think you can optionally bet for value against Kx, and maybe Qx, but I don’t see any bluffs. It just seems thin with too much risk of having to fold to a raise.

I look forward to hearing others’ thoughts.

This is an interesting hand that may have helped me identify a leak. I was suspecting I was set mining too much with pocket pairs, and if calling the flop here is a good choice (because it’s just a C-bet, but it is a C-bet into 3 players), I need to think about it more.

But I’m still thinking the flop call would make sense with fewer in the pot than what transpired here. Do broadways call often enough and do other pocket pairs fold often enough to justify staying in the hand?

If your hand needs to be turned into a bluff on the river, you should fold flop.

are you saying that better hands are not folding to a river bet? Once hero calls the flop bet we are playing our hand as a bluff catcher , so i guess you’re right , there is no need to turn our hand into a bluff.

Right – either you have enough showdown value to warrant calling the flop bet, or you should fold. Your hand is bad for bluffing, so calling the flop just hoping to make a marginal, at best, bluff on the river doesn’t make sense.
