Sat night 10k guarantee……sitting with 18bb in the big blind with a-6 off….blinds are 600-1200 but going upthe next hand to leave me with 12bb ……..action is folds to the small blind who is a reg at these tour and has shown that he has opened light throughout the tour either by showing down marginal hands or folding to 3 bets when in or out of position….sb jams 15bb into me….what do you do…..result to come later….really would like to do the math vs random 2 and also if I assigned the range of 22+,any a , k8+, and any suited connectors down to 4-5…..looking forward to the replys
I Stoved it and A6o against a random hand is about 58/42 in your favor. Against the any pair, any A, K8+ and QJs-54s range A6o is about 44/56.
I'm going to assume that you probably have a decent skill edge on the field and therefore, I don't think you need to flip here. A 12bb stack live will still have plenty of fold equity in a live tournament.
He is seeing that same problem with the Blinds increasing with the added problem of a smaller stack and BB coming his way… with that I would open up his shoving range based on your read (live, players tend to wait till they get much much shorter to shove)
So Stoved this a 50% range and got to a 51-49. this is the range i used:
{ 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J2s+, T6s+, 96s+, 86s+, 76s, 65s, 54s, A2o+, K5o+, Q8o+, J8o+, T8o+, 98o }
In addition, A6o never really dominates since you end up splitting with smaller aces 20% of the time:
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 42.047% 24.02% 18.03% 44413680 33342966.00 { A4o }
Hand 1: 57.953% 39.92% 18.03% 73829220 33342966.00 { A6o }
so i fold and wait for a better spot, even if you have a small or no edge I would rather shove Most 2 cards than call here,
(just FWIW, if I am the one shoving I gladly shove A6o…..I don't hate the hand

its interesting that the equities are so close here, because i would snap off here vs a sb jam. Maybe thats a leak in my game.
I think one think you have to consider as well is the fact that if we get under 10bb it is going to be a really tough ask to come back, but if we win this flip we will be able to start opening our game up a lot.
missingflops assumes that we have a big edge over the field, which i think for the most part should be assumed in a live tourney like this, but with 10bb there isn't really that much room to apply our skill edge, but with 25bb we can start to do some damage
I thought that I had a big equity vs. random 2 and I insta called…..he had 77 and I did not get there but I absolutely think I played it correctly….too much risk letting myself get under 12 bb and hoping 4 a better hand…..I think that if he had displayed some tightness throughout the tour I may have thought twice but as played I think I was correct…thanks for the math …..understand that I would not make the same call if I had a large stack or if the blind schedule was different…..only 20 min levels , live shuffle , really limits the # of hands I will get ……no need to get involved with a 25 + bb stack and can definately look for better…thanks for the responses….gl on the felt
