I have one interesting hand from live tournament from Irish open ME 14 days ago. End of day 1, three hands left. I im on BB with 55k, villain 80k (from 30k starting stack), seemed like good agro player but not much infos since I was changing tables all day long. He opened to 1700 (BB was 800) and I defended with K2s. Flop K25 rainbow. Check and he bets 1700. I raise to 5100 and he calls. Turn is a 7, I check and he bets 4000 and I call with intention to check/call river. River is a 9, I check and he shoves. Hero?

I would fold this one, V is betting your 45k in a 22k pot, 45k still a very healthy stack to play with.
So do you think calling is -EV, or do you think it’s +EV but too high risk? Seems like you’re using this “very healthy stack” talk to avoid answering the more important/difficult question.

I dont know where villains position lost, but I was sure I wrote it. He opened from button. Ante was 100.
I c/r him on flop because I expected him to cbet close to 100% here so I could take the pot on the flop. After he called I just wanted to pot control. Honestly I didnt understand that river shove I folded just becase I didnt want to go out in last hands of the day (which is wrong mindset for sure!) if he just hitted big hand. I would call with sets and top two pairs. But on the other side I would expect him to bet 1/2 pot or sth like that to get value and not just shove with better hand.

You’re right that just trying to make Day 2 isn’t a good mindset, but the way you approached the flop and turn isn’t great either. You can’t just check-raise the flop and “take the pot” whenever you feel like it. You have to consider your cards and how well they will play if your opponent does not fold. Now here, I would argue your cards are strong enough to warrant check-raising not to “take the pot” but rather to get called by worse. However, if that’s the plan, you shouldn’t then start trying to play a small pot once your raise is called. Basically, if you’re not going to feel comfortable playing a big pot, don’t raise the flop.
