This hand comes from the first event of the Borgata Winter Open which
drew 1873 runners. 180 got paid, there were roughly 120 left, so the pay
jumps were very insignificant and we were nowhere near the final table.
Blinds – 6000/12000/2000 ante
Hero – 221,000 25yo had been opening a bit when I was deeper, shortly
after blinds went up I lost 12bb raise/calling KQo<ATs against a
short stack. I had tightened up after that.
Villain ~230,000 in his 40s-50s (I'm incredibad at guessing ppls age lol)
Villain has not gotten into many big pots, and is able to lay down
hands. Folded an overpair earlier against an aggressive opponent as the
board got scary. He has been opening for about 2.2-2.5x, and has folded
every time he had been 3bet so far. His stack dwindled from 400k down to
230k since we hit the money. Two hands earlier, villain opened from MP,
got 3bet from the small blind and claimed to have folded KQ.
Hero is dealt KQdd in the small blind
Folds around to villain
Villain (CUT) raises to 27,000
Button folds
Hero ?
Most likely ahead of his standard cutoff opening range, but since he only has 19bb himself is it profitable to shove here?
