This is a tourney I play in every week at a local club, there are roughly 17 people left and 5 are paid.

Blinds are 300/600 with 75 ante

Folds to MP1 (~14k in chips) who opens to 2500.  I have played with this guy a decent amount of times and my impression is that he is an average to slightly below average player.  He is definitely on the LAG side of things and limps a lot especially when he has some chips.  I have seen him open pots and call opens with a chip stack that clearly should be shoving or folding(this is common at this tourney), and also vary his raises given the strength of his hand.

Folds around to me in the Cutoff with ~12500 in chips and i look down at JJ.

Are you ever folding given reads on specific player and poor field of players?  yell

that raise size is huge – sometimes below average players will raise more with their moster hands, or even more common, raise more with hands that they find hard to play postflop, such as AJ, 77-JJ etc.

so i guess it depends on your read of the player in this spot i would think

Nah, I'm never folding here.  Typically players like this raise their trouble hands because they don't have any idea what to do post-flop.  You said you have played with him a decent amount of times have you picked up anything from his raise sizing before?

I think in general he doesn't slow play big hands pre flop, but that doesn't necessarily mean he overbets them either.  I don't think he bets 20% of his stack with A7o or something like that, so my range for him is basically 1010-AA and AK and maybe AQ or AJ.

So basically I have one hand I crush and three i'm flipping with and the rest crush me.

I just thought it was a funny spot, and I almost folded as super nitty as that sounds.

I did shove though and he had AK and got there (obviously)!  At least I know what to look for next time.

What do you think villian is doing with say 66-TT here?  I ask cause you said you think his range is basically TT-AA and AK.  I would imagine with his bigger pairs he may raise smaller wanting to get more action out of them.  That's why I'd think his range is weighted more towards 66-TT and AK, AQ, AJ.
