$200 live event 12 players left, 6 places paid

Villain is younger guy, one of the more aggressive players at the table and the only one that has me covered. He seems to be a thinking aggressive player, but he has also confused me a little by limping a few hands in late position. One hand he folded to my SB raise and one hand was limped pre-flop. He rivered a straight with pocket 3s and doubled up to get the chip lead.

Blinds 1000/2000/300. last hand before break. I have 70K villain has me covered with about 95K

Villain raises 4.5k from SB. Hero calls BB with KheartQclub

Flop (10,800) QspadeTclub6diamond Villain bets 3.5K hero calls.

Turn (17,800) Jclub Villian bets 7K hero calls

River (31,800) Jheart Villain checks. Hero bets 10K.

I am not confident in any decision I made in this hand. On every decision point, I feel like I'm ahead of villain's range, but never confident enough to raise. I feel like I'm playing scared by playing pot control and giving villain a chance to outdraw me. On the other hand, by playing my hand passively I may keep his range wider and get more value out of bluffs or semi-bluffs.

When villain checks the river, I feel my hand is best. He probably value bets AQ or an overpair. At the same time, I don't really have a value target. QT? Q9? AT? KT? I don't think i'm pushing him off a better 2 pair hand.

This is where thin value bets become very crucial IMO and better players just know when to check back here or to make that thin value bet. I'd struggle with sorta situations as well , ingame i'd go for a check back. Though b/f seems probably the better option, both of your ranges are really wide here and a hand like two pair is pretty strong in a bvb spot imo. You may get value from Tx if u bet small like you did but it would be pretty sick if u faced a c/r . I don't think v is going to check boats like QJ/JT or a straight with AK as he would want to get value from Qx so when they check river their range does seem marginal/air. They may check a hand like AQ here but i just think their range is going to be so much wider then that , hands like QT/Q9 and T9/T8 may very well be in their range.

so yeah i'd go for a b/f.
