Limping behind with AK

Hi all , new member here.   I do plan a long rambling story of my poker life so far and looking for some advice going forward but for now….

Let me ask you experts this :

I don't think I've ever limped behind with AK to induce and I hate the play when I see it from other villains but here I try it because I'm sure that MP1 is going to jam.

Should I consider limping ?  Or should I raise ?  Or should I just jam ?

If you dont like the limp, how much do you hate it ?   Should I eradicate it ?

Poker Stars $15.00+$1.50 No Limit Hold'em Tournament – t500/t1000 Blinds +

MP1: BB = 12.2, t12202
MP2: BB = 66.5, t66543
CO: BB = 30.4, t30360
BTN: BB = 39.1, t39138
SB: BB = 62.1, t62093
BB: BB = 28.7, t28663
UTG: BB = 88.7,t88698
Hero (UTG+1): BB = 16.5, t16535
UTG+2: BB = 14.9, t14942

Pre Flop: (t2625) Hero is UTG+1 with K of hearts A of diamonds
UTG calls t1000, Hero calls t1000, 1 fold,

And here's what actually happened ….

Pre Flop: (t2625) Hero is UTG+1 with K of hearts A of diamonds
UTG calls t1000, Hero calls t1000, 1 fold, MP1 raises to t12077 all in,

Does this change your view of my play ?

Your getting low on BB, with KA I would have shoved preflopwith all the big stacks left to act after you. Your not in a position to play post flop with your stack size against them. If it is folded around to you after the MP1 shove, I would call, he is getting low and his range could widen a bit.

If i see a 12BB stack limping alarm bells start ringing [unless iv pegged that player to be an absolute fish] — i shove it in here.

16bb -> i'd shove here

but with a DEEPSTACK i think there can be some situations were a limp behind with AK could be a good play.

why is everyone shoving here? i think id rather minraise to induce a 3bet and get it in from there. so many people are 3betting hands we dominate these days like any A & KQ.

I don't get tricky here and just shove with my stack over the utg limper….With doing so I play my hand both for value and to take down the dead money in the middle to help increase your stack.  Sure limping behind is cool and when you do get shoved on you snap call, but in many cases that short stack may of been shoving regardless depending on what they table.  I just don't like limping, bc imo it looks STRONG to thinking players acting behind and you lose action to players that you have dominated.  By shoving you also widen your range and can easily looked up with hands that you have dominated such as AQ and AJss, any pocket pair you are flipping with.  By also limping behind you may have someone flat (bad i know) or it just gets to the bb who checks and you miss the flop and are in an awkward spot.  Hope this helps..best of luck at the tables!!

ak is a hand that you do not want to put yourself into a flop dependant spot. i never try to get tricky normally but i def. never do it with Ak or AQ

totally agree with terbet11 too, especially his point that u will loose action vs thinking players by making it look extremely strong
