Did I miss the meeting where it was decided that limping TT+ and AQo+ was a thing? I'm not referring to limp/raising either, just straight limping or limp/calling. This weekend I've had to add no less than 20 notes to players that read something like 'Limped JJ UTG w/ 19bbs post ante' or other variations of that. I understand the whole deception aspect of it but isn't it -EV in the long run to let in all kinds of garbage hands vs. just raising pre and getting the value from the times you get callers, cbet and take it down or hit your hand and get a couple streets or pick up the blinds and antes?

I get that if you're very good post flop that it can make sense to outplay them there instead of pre and sure it's way harder to range your hand, I totally understand that. But it is also tougher for you with QQ+ to range the BB who checks with 95o, flops 2 pair and sits back and check calls as you value own yourself all the way to the river.

Shouldn't the object of your preflop moves be to set up your post flop actions to leave very simple decisions for yourself? Seems to me like you can get yourself into some tricky spots by limping…

Yeah – it does seem that the short stack limp trap with big hands is making a come back. But, I'm sure that if you OPR or  Scope these people the majority of them will not be regs or winning players. Unfortunately, I think this play is only really going to work for you if your a fish who limps a tonne of other stuff from early as well. They say everything comes back into fashion, this is v 2002! (Yes I am that old)

Further to this, I have also notice a few people now faking this play e.g. limping from early with marginal hand, then if the is a raise and 1 or more callers, resqueezing it.

EXACT-a-mundo…. well that, and taking the green boat to value town

I only do this against opponents who seem to think themselves overly clever and are the type to get an ego boost from being the 'cleverst' guy at th etable. That being said id only do it with cowboys or bullets.

But, as you said earlier, i feel like im losing potential value and then If i miss flop then I allow all kinds of marginal garbage into the equation…

I much prefer to at least min raise….especially during antes…. at least you chase out mosat of the early to mid position boarderline hands.
