Level one of Lock Tournament.  $55+5 buy in.  3,000 starting stack.  Blinds 10/20. Both relevent players have close to starting stacks. Hand goes like this . .

Hand#3231CFBDCD000040 – $3,000 GTD T13614541 — TICKETCASH — $55 + $5 — 9 Max — Table 6 — 0/10/20 NL Hold'em — 2013/02/08 – 09:09:41
Dealer: Seat 3
Seat 1:  High jack(5,856 in chips)
Seat 2:  Cut-off (3,080 in chips)
Seat 3: BTN: (2,970 in chips)
Seat 4: Hero in SB (2,957 in chips)
Seat 5: BB (2,505 in chips)
Seat 7: UTG + 1(2,945 in chips)
Seat 8: UTG + 2 LasVegasAddict (2,650 in chips)
Seat 9: UTG + 3 (2,980 in chips)
Seat 10: UTG +4 (7,264 in chips)
Hero: posts small blind 10
BB: posts big blind 20
Dealt to Hero [Qs,Qh]
UTG +1: folds
UTG +2: folds
UTG +3: folds
UTG + 4: folds
Hijack: raises to 40
Cut-off: raises to 160
BTN: folds
Hero in SB: raises to 540
BB: folds
Hijack: folds
Cutoff: is all in 2,920

So level 1 of tourny.  The action is min raised to 40 by hijack, cut-off raises to 160, folds to me in SB with QspadeQheart. I raise to 540.  Hijack folds. Cut off shoves 2,380 more and is all in and has me covered?  My question.  at this stage of tourny? level 1.  Is this an automatic call?  So do I ever flat call his 3-bet in small blind instead of raising?  Obviously this hand plays itself at later levels.  But how about in level one. . thoughts?

upon further review. .this is a 5-bet shove. . maybe making a potential lay down easier?

I think before you 4bet you should have decided already what you will do if jammed on i.e. ask yourself before you do it 'am I 4bet folding or 4bet inducing'

Now, looking at the actual hand 1) your 4bet is MASSIVE 3.375x his 3bet which is already a 4x 3bet (your 4bet really only needs to be 2.1-2.5x), as villain this says 2 things to me i) you have a top 4 premium hand ii) you dont want to be flatted. So, his 5bet jam really is only ever going to be KK+ and maybe AKs.

Ironically, I think the large size of your 4bet has actually given you the info you need to comfortably lay this hand down at this point.

Turbulence.. Thank you.. That is a great point you made.. That is awesome bet sizing advice, I appreciate it. Interestingly in the hand.. I did call.. And he did have KK… I actually sucked out and flopped a queen.. He started yelling at me in the chat box which I promptly ignored..but it made me go hmmmm
Thanks against on the bet fold/ bet induce advice

I agree with 4bet to say 400, however, it is still a gross spot if het 5bets or jams. I probably still fold in that scenario.
