Any reads on the big stack? looked like an Internet Pro or was it an Old lady? how big a stack? 60 bbs or 200 bbs? was there prior history of 3 betting from either of you?that helps in the decision in my opinion.
but readless and assuming the usual pay structure of very small jumps just after the bubble I would go for it, I still think there is a chance he shows up with AJ, AQ KQs and many pairs other than KK and AA, in fact the over shove seems to discard AA, and the value of a double up to 60 bbs at this point is worth it.
One point, if you really felt like you are running all over the table then take the low variance roue and fold, but I wouldnt recommend doing that very often
Thanks for replies all. He probably had 400-500k stack. He was pretty young and not a maniac, playing pretty solid. I figured his 4 bet shove was going be real strong and if I had more of a stack I probably would have folded it, I just couldn't see 3bet folding a 30 bb stack. I just was hoping for a flip at least, if I would have doubled up I would have been well above avg heading into the second day, at least a risk I thought was worth taking at the time. At any rate, was my first live tourny cash (just wish it had been more!). This site has improved my game a lot!
Oh yea he had KK obv.

I have been playing a lot of live lately. We have a ton of info here and I definitely think we can fold. Cant just chaulk it up as a cooler everytime you go with AK.
Right, but 3bet folding with 30 bigs? That is an optimal play? That is what I wasnt sure of. That would leave me with about 23 bigs left if I folded. I figured it was a +ev play to try to take that gamble and double up to be among the chip leaders and in good positioning heading into day 2. But maybe I'm wrong, that was just my reasoning in why I went with it.

These spots are never optimal but we as poker players gotta use what is given to us. We are hardly ever gonna be in this spot this late, it just so happens the big stack 4bet shoved here and he has to have a monster to do so. We are in bad shape vs. his range. I am always 3betting as you did, but this time we gotta fold. We all know 23bb's is actually a decent stack in live poker. This is my opinion and I can see the argument to go big or go home here but my style allows me to play more than just my hand. GG
