I normally play tourneys with about 3000 – 4000 ppl, several times I make it to the last 150 ppl then…out

Exeample, yesterday 6 Max, I had 43k, the initial pot was 5600 chips, I picked up KJo UTG +1, all in and AQ calls me and Im out.

Its so annoying that I always bust out when theres like 100 ppl left or something….I know if I tight up I can go further, but I reall dont wanna fold KJ, and blind out….whats the strategy when there are 100 ppl left or so…

I know KJo looks pretty tempting, but even in 6max position for shoves is pretty big. I like to try to avoid shoving through most of the table. You can loosen your range up for shoving a bit when you have position to help avoid the blinding problem. 3-bet reshove steals is also not a bad tactic to employ at this stage of the tourney either, as long as your stack represents some definite damage to whomever the pre-flop raiser is. When the players get small the amount of wild risks people are willing to take to just call you off goes way down so you do inherit the ability to try a few different shove moves other than open shoving.  I keep running into similiar problems running late in tourneys, it is frustrating, but you can’t let that deviate you from your gameplan. Nothing spoils a deep run faster than frustration.

I dont hate the shove in a 6max at all. Someone just had a hand and you raced 60/40. Thye only way to not have to play the shove game when you start to run deep is obvious, amass a large stack. Easier said then done, I know. Watch Caseys midstage videos they should help. I always notice late he usually has a big stack.
