your only beating a bluff and this would be a horrendous bluff line. I fold. My guess was his intent was to c/r the flop but when you checked back it forced him to lead the turn

his line is indeed strong, but his pot bet sizing on the turn was really fishy. he made a pot size bet on turn. dont know wt hands he's doing this with.  bet size on turn is somewt suspicious to me. it looks like he wants u out and now. definately a cbet could have possibly won u the pot on the flop and save u some chips after he c/r ur cbet. but its one of those marginal spots that we can easily get away from with a marginal hand. we're not even getting 2:1 on a call so we can fold here and pick him off when we're a confident favorite. i hate calling turn and folding to river shove especially to a blank card, but we have to call turn after making top pr.  fold to river shove.

Yeah, i hated this turn bet cause it screams please fold, imo. But this guy had QJ, and overbets pot for value apparently…obv. I paid this guy off like a dummy…..but how do I put him on 2pr betting 2k more than pot on turn here??? Even AQ KQ would be looking for value imo, but guess i'll never figure these ppl out, thx for the insight guys, just wish i woulda c-bet so i could give up after his call or c/r.

I agree with Makavell.

I think his Turn lead has to be looked at as a strong hand unless we have reads that indicate otherwise. Usually these big bets are representative of someone who wanted to c/r a flop and now is looking to overcompensate on the Turn in order to get more chips in the middle to try and get all-in at the end.

I have to strongly disagree with his bet screaming please fold. My reasoning: Ive learned this the hard way myself in similar situations and his bet sizing is a tell. Im also ruling AQ out because i doubt its in his flatting range pre from oop.

His bet size SCREAMS strength and you didnt bet the flop so now Im running out of streets to try and double up. Its a whole different story when people donk bet flops from the blinds but he checked it.

To be completely honest there is a strong strong case to just muck on the turn.

Things become very difficult when checking back the flop, why? Because if you had AA,KK,QQ,AJ,KJ,sets, you would be betting this flop. So might a whiffed AK,AQ, possibly even 99 trying to take it down. So it becomes pretty evident you missed this board. Sure even if he can figure out your range, theres no doubt in my mind he would never lead out bluff the turn to that sizing.

lines that call a raise pre from the blinds, check flop, bet turn, bet river, are rarely ever bluffs. Its mostly made hands that were trying to checkraise the flop but failed because they banked on the original raiser to C-bet and when he doesnt they feel pressured to bet the turn, and bet large bcuz they become worried they are not going to get paid off anymore.

good advice there.

fwiw, i think thats a pretty decent board to cbet on. its kinda wet, but i still think we take it down a lot of the time vs someone flatting out of the blinds, as this is a pretty wide range.
