Well this will be my inaugural strategy post. I wasn't involved in this hand, but I saw it posted somewhere else and thought it was interesting. I am reposting it here with the permission of the OP.
This is a live tournament at this year's LAPC. Day 1 of the $335 with a $1,000,000 guarantee. Although there are multiple Day 1s, the tournament is already in the money with 55 players remaining on this Day 1. Everyone remaining is guaranteed an $800 payout. The top 38 on this Day 1 will get at least $1,000, and the top 17 from this Day 1 will move on to Day 2. There are four total Day 1s and if you bust on one you can reenter on a subsequent Day1.
There are three V's in this hand:
Villian 1 is in seat 9 (play is 9 handed). Agressive young kid who has been involved in a lot of hands. Has our hero well covered.
Villian
2 is in seat 1. Agressive middle age male. Been playing a lot of
pots with our villian in seat 1. Both players have been the most active
players at the table. He has shown better quality hands than our villian
in seat 9.
Villian 3 is an older male, pushing 60ish. He is a
NIT but has been pushing with pairs or a big ace. He is in seat 3.
Relevant Stack Sizes:
Hero: t30,000
V3: t25,000
V1 & V2 have Hero well covered.
Blinds are 1500/3000 with a 500 ante.
Action:
V1 Limps UTG +2;
V2 Raises to 15,000
V3 Shoves for 25,000. V3's range to shove here is probably AA-55, AK, AQ, AJ.
Hero is on the button and has KsQc.
Hero can either shove or fold. Which should he do and why?
easy fold for me here, way to much going on. The limp by V1 could be trouble, the 5x following from V2 probably is trouble, then the reshove from V3 knowing he has 0 fold equity is trouble. You are board dependent in my mind with no doubt and probably way behind here and flipping at absolute best. Hero can find a better spot easily.

I would fold here, you still have the other two villians to act after you, if one of them calls your hand is not good in a three way situation. Unless I am holding a monster or small stack situation, I like to be the aggressor not the caller.
"Your either in Sheen's Korner or your with the trolls."
Fold. KQ off is at best in a race with V3. Id rather push the first chance with any two than call with V who left to act is getting more than enough to pot odds by that to call the last 15,000 and has you well covered and the chance to knock out two shorties. The only time I call here is when tilting the very next hand after a badbeat. Otherwise easy fold.
Thanks guys. I definitely agree that viewing this hand in isolation its a fold. Where I thought there might be room for discussion was due to how flat the payout structure is and how short Hero is at this point. Since Hero has to outlast about 17 more people to increase his payout and about another 17 to make Day 2, I didn't know if it would be appropriate to take a bigger risk in this hand given the chance to dramatically increase the stack. In other words, since the value of busting right here is that same as the value for busting out 16 spots later, would it be correct for Hero to risk a lot in order to have a better chance to go further.
Thanks for the thoughts!
