Ok, Villain has only been for 30 hands at the table, but he has been fairly active, pushing around other smaller stacks. For this 30 hands he's running 35/24 2.0 agg

This is practically the bubble, as there is only 49 players at this time and the tourney payed 45.

Could you guys provide any info on how you play it? what are your plans for diff turns? rivs? are you looking to raise at any point in the hand? on this flop? on some turns? Any comments appreciated. HH converter did not work for me btw :S

With 20bb my standard line is to ship this pre. Calling and folding flops i miss is too ugly, and by shipping im only really in bad shape vs AK AQ QQ KK AA, and since he is opening so much i think its a great spot to shove. I expect him to fold a decent amount of bad aces and his pairs lower than 88.

But given the stacks around the table it looks like this is playing very shallow with a low avg stack- so I do kinda understand calling aswell, althought i don't really like it.

As played im just calling his bet on the flop. There arent that many cards you don't like on the turn and he is likely to be drawing to only 3 outs to your hand.

I bet on most turns if checked to, perhaps checking back an ace turn.

It seems to me, with your stack of 20 big blinds, that is the perfect size for a 3-bet shove pre-flop.  You have a enough fold equity to get him to lay down most hands.  Since he is in 30 percent of hands, his range includes many hands that are well below your KQ suited.  You have to remember, he is conscious of the bubble too and he will be crippled if he loses this hand.  Your hand is only dead to 5 hands, AA, KK, QQ, AK, and AQ pre-flop so there arn't many hands where you will be drawing real bad if he does call.  Have to use your fold equity and shove pre-flop I think.

As played.  Just calling pre-flop. . you got the card you wanted so you have to be willing to go all in. If you are not willing to go all in on a flop that dry you shouldn't have called pre-flop. After MP2's bet on the flop, I believe there is 25k in the pot. . you have a stack of 37 K.  Having top pair good kicker you ahve to be willing to go with it.   To a shove it is possible that MP2 would fold. . as I believe he would have 37k left.  SO you might want to just call her with the intention of calling all the way down if he is that agressive.  My thought, if he doesn't have anything on this flop and you call the flop bet, he will shut it down.  But calling might be the best way to get it in, but with the understanding that with this situation you you can no longer get away from it at this stage of the tournament.

If infact he has AK or AA which I am guessing he does since you are posting this. . you just need to realize you got a cooler.  IT has happneed to all of us, but my feeling is. . you need to shove pre-flop here, barring that. . and given the flop. . if you are beat you are beat. . but you have to be willing to get it all in.  Maybe even just call him down if he is that agressive.  It would be a craying call if he shoves on the turn after you have commited 14k of your 42k stack. . but i don't see how you can get away from a pot when you got the exact flop you wanted.  if you weren't willing to call that flop all in. . you clearly should have shoved or folded pre-flop.

I'm defo shoving pre here. No question.

As played: I'm jamming the flop. No need to get fancy at this stage of comp.

I don't think jamming the flop is good when we can let him barrel off worse hands. There's really no scare card on the turn at all except for an Ace.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for your comments here. Basically, I don't want to shove pre. I would most of the time, but I'm working on my post flop game and I think this was a decent spot to try and play some post flop poker.

I also think that if I jam KQ here, he may look me up with some hands that I beat, but most hands that beat me or im flipping against are most likely calling, all other fold. I think i might have an edge post and was looking to get into some spots. I def aggree that 20 bigs is a nice stack to shove, but i also think its good.

My plan for the hand is fairly simply, play for my whole stack if I hit TP, or an 8out draw.

When this flop hits, I agree shoving is not good, as we do not accomplish much. Sure, we can be looked up by KJ here once in a while, but most likely he's folding all of his PP's and weaker Ks his continuing with as well as the ocassional whiff, so my plan now is to call flop and re raise all in, or shove if checked to, any turn unless its an A.

Any comments?

I understand that you want to play more post flop, but when stacks are getting shallow it becomes more profitable to be taking more preflop decisions. Yeah if you had a deeper stack, I would more than likely flat and play a flop, but since you basically have a perfect 3 bet shove stack, against a guy who is opening pretty wide, this is a very profitable shove pre IMO.

As played I like flatting the flop. Board is very dry and raising/jamming will just fold out all worse hands (maybe not Kx) while calling keeps all his bluffs in, and he could very easily double barrell given his agg factor.

Hope this helps 🙂
