Reads:
Hero is seen as TAG by some and LAG by some. Tendency for small raises preflop and aggressive postflop
UTG+1 has extremely narrow 3-bet range. We've played together a lot and he generally respects my raises so his 3-bet limits his range to QQ+ and AKs at the widest. Most likely KK+ only
UTG+4 is Tight but passive unless he has the nuts. I put him on ATs+, AQo+, 88+
SB spent 30min pre-game telling everyone how soft the play was at the 1/2 game at our local casino. He complained about suckouts and cashed out just under even. At this point I considered him to be LAG with wide range
Flop (1350): 9s4h6s
SB check
(Hero) UTG check
UTG+1 check
UTG+4 check
Turn (1350): 4s
SB bets 600
(Hero) UTG call 600
UTG+1 fold
UTG+4 fold
River (2550): Jd
SB bets 1200
(Hero) UTG call 1200
Preflop I'm thinking that I should have 4-bet and normally I would have, but honestly UTG+1 is so tight with his 3-bet range that I was almost certain he had AA
After flop I felt like I was ahead of everyone except UTG+1 since the SB checked. I was thinking he would donk bet with spade draws or sets. when UTG+1 checks I start thinking maybe he has AKs instead of AA
On turn SB bet feels like a weak steal attempt or feeler bet with pocket pair, spade draw, or overcards. I call as I feel I'm ahead of his range but still scared of UTG+1 and I think SB will likely barrel on river even if he misses
UTG+1 tanked and cry-folded which confirmed my thought that his hand was ultra premium (now without a spade)
River is blank but given I don't know this player well yet I decide to call to keep the pot smaller
Looking for feedback around my decisions based on the reads given. Is it better to 4-bet preflop (to maybe 1200?) when I'm about 80% certain UTG+1 has AA or AKs just to try get it heads up?
Should i be turning my hand into a bluff catcher once SB leads out since I don't have a good read on him? I feel like I should have been more aggressive with such a strong hand, but I can't really figure out where

Yeah, I think you need to four-bet preflop with KK in this spot. You are out of position, you want to make it more expensive for speculative hands to play, and you want to give UTG+1 a chance to reraise. Some players love to get their gamble on early in a tournament and I want to make every effort to accommodate and encourage such irrational exuberance.
Playing as though your opponent has aces is probably a mistake. If I'm gonna get coolered in a tournament I might as well get it out of the way and rebuy.

It won't air until March 23, but Nate and I discussed this hand on Episode 119 of the podcast. I'll try to remember to bump this thread when it airs. Short answer is that I strongly suspect your read is off and this is a 4bet pre, but if you are really confident he has only AA/AK then it's a call. From there, the rest of the hand is played well, though a bit of the reasoning (ie still thinking UTG1 might have AA after he checks the flop) seems off. Could I ask you either to post or to PM me Villain's hand?
Thanks!
Andrew
