Thoughts about this hand… I noticed the guy loved A rag and would call OOP all the time with it. With the A on flop I decided to play small ball and I could rep the A on the turn as the board was dry. He donks the turn small and I had seen that before by him with middle pair so I make a suspicious min raise folding to a repop was the plan and if called get to the river hopefully cheap. I saw no value in betting the river as I had seen him show Arag down like this before on a wet board…thoughts?

what’s the point in minraising the turn?  I guess it got you a free show down, but I don’t think you ever get a worse hand to call, nor do you get a better hand to fold.  I just call and probably station the river on most spots.

The min raise was for two reasons in my mind, this guy was kind of passive unless super strong. So if he calls I think I get a free showdown if I dont improve on the river and it gives me a some information.  I just didnt want to call and face a big river bet. And I disagree a worse hand will call, this  hand reflects that 🙂

Yeah I think i’m just stationing down too.  You said he loves A rag, it’s a decent part of his range. Even if this guy did call with worse, you are going to fold out a lot of villains here.

You put in an additional 900 and in many cases end the hand with him folding or raising you again.

I think in many cases, without an A he’s not going to triple barrel you.  You probably see the same river action without the extra 900.

I thikn the minraise gives you a free card on the river most of the time. I would though personaly hope for a cheap showdown given his range .

I just had a read on him that he was passive with weak hands and liked to donk for info, I also knew he liked A rag. So I figured he had either of those two hands, he didnt play aggressive unless he had a huge hand. So I figured the min raise allowed me to set the price for the hand as he would check A rag on the river. I wasnt going to try and blow him off it either because he already showed me a couple times he doesnt like to fold.  So thats why I thought the min raise was a good idea, if he came back over the top I could easily fold.

Its not my normal plan on this type of hand, I did the raise based on the villain.  If we call the turn and he checks river is there enough value for betting?
