My brother and I were discussing this hand after it took place and we had a difference of opinion.  Anyways, I wanted to post this hand for thoughts on how it was played.  This was a $4 tourney with $1600 going to first.  I think at time of this hand I was in 3rd or 4th of chips with 14 to go.

Villian is 20/14 over 60 hands.  Every time he opens he 4x to 5x BB.   My thought and reason I flatted here was I thhought maybe I could get one of the shorter stacks trying to ISO.  If this doesn't happen then I'll still have position.

Questions

1) Do you like or hate the flat?

2) After my reraise on the flop bet are you also shoving after the turn or calling?

With 52bb stack size I don't like flating here… I would flat with something like 25-30bb and jam over his cbet, but with 52bb I'll try to put as much money as I can pre flop, since his commiting range post flop should be a lot wider in 3b pot than in just raised pot… He could shutdown with AK, AQ type of hands if he misses flop, but could go broke pre flop, also he could go broke pre with TT, JJ and shutdown on A or K flop… And with call we are taking him away chance to do something stupid pre flop…  I don't see any merit in flatting pre flop with these stacks…

Also I don't think that someone with short stack behind would shove without a premium since they have no FE…

Also I will try to exploit his 4-5x opening with light 3 bets, and this would be a good spot to balance that light 3 bets with actual hand… If he folds I would show him KK…

As played I would also shove turn… I think thats more ev than just calling, since we are getting value from his draws that he wouldn't bet river with, and also we rep draw ourself so he could call us with something like 77 or 99…

Depends on table dynamics if I flat or 3b pre. Has this guy been 3b before? how did he react? Have you been 3b'n pre or flatting? have the stacks behind been aggressive and so more likely to squeeze if you flat?

As played I raise a little bigger on the flop to make flatting alot harder for him, making it fold or shove. Calling his shove if he does.

I prefer the 3bet pre. Play it fast.

As played I shove the turn as well.

If the pot was built bigger pre-flop (with a 3 bet) you could shove on the flop.

What was your image?  Three betting often or were you calling some. Kinda gives you a stronger range there I think. I would not like someone who had not been calling all of the sudden calling. I would not give much action unless I hit my hand really hard.

Mostly I three bet it 2.4x his raise and hope to be calling a jam. Just me and I also raise him flop and turn with all the money in by the turn as played.

yeah, just a little too deep to flat here.  especially with stack sizes behind. Especially him being UTG, i see him flatting a good size three bet here with a range you obviously crush.  In position i think I would make it 2.5-3x his initial raise pre.

as played, raise flop more to set up a nice turn pot size shove.

This is really spot on except I wouldn't show because I have auto don't show on :).  I also do flat here pre sometimes but a lot depends on the other table dynamics going on at the table.

Yeah my brother ripped me pretty hard the way I played it.  I can understand with my stack size I shouldn't be doing so and probably won't in the future.  The villian had pocket 3's, I'm guessing his call after my raise on the flop he put me on a hand like AK or AQ.  Then of course he binks the 3 on the turn.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
