i was watching one of kid cardiffs videos and by the way his videos are super and i know he is an excellent mtt player,
in big 109 blinds 150/300 he folded 55 in early position with 5,000 chips, i have shoved 55 many times in this spot and wasnt sure if it is right or wrong play, obv you usually get called by better hands or hands your flipping with but sometimes you shove 55 get called by aq/ak and double, i wondered what he would do if he had say aj, 88, 99 here would he min raise, shove or fold? ive found ive lost many pots min raising say 88 or 99 here because bb sometimes calls j10/k10/kq/kj and outflops you, also if you minraise aj and get called by bb and board is terrible what do you do?

IMO it's min-raise or fold in Ben's spot there and a lot of that will come down to knowing what type of table you're at and what stack sizes are sitting behind you.
Open shoving 16.5 BB here is -EV or break even at best.
All 3 hands you mentioned are a lot better to play than 5's here. Depending on the table, it's again an open or a shove. You could also go closer to 2.5x to discourage speculative hands from seeing a flop and when we open here, we shouldn't be folding unless there's some insane action behind us.
