Villian seems to be a decent player. Haven't seen him get out of line, has been quite aggresive in position.

My thinking was that if he had a monster ie: 2 pair, set or even a strong Jack he would check raise me after the flop, knowing I would always c-bet that flop, which I have been doing most pots when I was the aggressor.

When he donk bets practically the pot I leaned that he was weak, maybe a weak Jack or underpair or 2nd pair or an unlikely draw with 53. After my raise and he jams I still think I should call. It was about 4 players from bubble, thinking he would make me lay down a better hand so close to the bubble.

What do ya's think?

I prefer just to flat his lead on the flop.

By rasing on the flop if hes good I doubt he will call with any hands you beat.

As played I fold to the shove.

Yea, you're right. I needed to fold the jam.

He had J 4 and it held. Bad play and read from me frown

What I've been seeing is that the weak donk bets for min-1/3rd pot are usually mid pairs, weak top pairs, or flush/str8 draws looking to get a cheap turn card. I almost always raise here if I was the pre flop aggressor.  Most of the time I see a 2/3-pot sized donk bet it's been very strong. Usually flopped 2pair, set, tptk or someone that flatted pre with an overpair to the board and I just fold if I'm not real comfortable with my hand. I learned this by spewing alot of chips cry Hope this helps a little and gl. Would love to here what others think.

i think you are right in general but in this case there are basically no draws to speak of.
