Hey TPE nation!

I have been playing a few tournaments today, and everytime i seem to face JJ's with my AA or KK and then loose, i know that is just bad luck.

The thing i wanna hear your thoughts about is this hand i played in a 1$ tournament on PS.

I tried to follow your hand best I could a lot of the HTML code came through, if you could be so kind and try the TPE hand converter next time, instead of DC.

TPE Hand Converter

I hate Jacks as well, I call them dumb and dumber. Out of position like you were, I will try to make it to flop as cheap as I can, I do not like calling a huge raises after me or a shove, unless I have a huge stack. Your raise was weak from your position, I would have went 3x. Early position with 20-30 BB, I do not want to get to crazy preflop with my stack. In position I will go with some aggression depending on my reads. Jacks have always been a thorn in my side and I am still learing how to play them.

Thats one tough hh to read!!!

Its probs reads on villain dependant, but you should defo have a plan.  When you 3bet, know what youre going to do if he 4bets. If we have no reads and 3bet an utg+1 open, its probs worth a fold to a 4bet.  Knowing that, maybe we just flat and evaluate the flop. Maybe call 1 bet on flop and give up to more pressure – costs us 4bb and we see a flop in pos, whereas the 3bet costs 4bb and we really should be folding to a 4bet from utg+1.

However, if you have reads to tell you he's doing this with any pair (55+), then we can get it in.

Never stop playing JJ, just have a plan, and play them well!

i agree with praetor and sammy, i would 3bet to around 4300-4500 to the utg open and call his shove if folded back to him but when the btn shoves and utg shoves too i am laying this one down most of the time unless i have a good read on the situation. most of the time we are flipping at best and usually way behind.

best piece of advice i have heard about jacks – play them like you play Tens, not like you play Queens.

The whole play them like 8's not like Queens is Far too simple.

Yes they can be difficult to play post flop but we arent looking to flop a set everytime in order to know that we have the best hand.

A combination of decent preflop play combined with reasonable hand reading makes difficult hands easiar to play.

I have found that I can run deeper in MTT's if, when I get JJ, I just give someone half my stack. 🙂

JJ is the kiss of death, every time I get them the first thing I say is, Oh Shit!

With that said, I will play them pretty aggro pre but I will no call a shove pre, unless I know the villian is very loose or he is a shorty.

Post flop I play them like pocket 8's.

Video is Hilarious!! laugh

No but if the flop comes with an A K or Q I will play them like 72off. 🙂

could be a good video actually, playing middle pairs 66-JJ when we are deep and have to play post flop, because it is obviously a lot more complicated than this

You cant just snap fold a pair because theres an over card. Its a little worrying if everyone actually plays as exploitably as they say they do.
