So the villian is a 27/8 over 100 hands. Since he is only raising 8% of hands I decided to just flat on the button so I could evalutate the rest of the streets. My plan is to float the flop and evaluate the turn pretty much on any board that only has one over card. If two overs are on the board I dont really think I would be able to float the flop if I wasnt prepared to at least call one more barrel depending on the turn so I would just prob fold. I thought it was really wierd how he checked the flop since he had been c betting 75% of the time. Once the river peels another over and the second flush draw hits the board I read his bet sizing as missed value or trying to give me the wrong odds to chase a flush to protect his monster. I lost the minimum here but do you guys think I should be 3 betting here on the button.

Alright so this is the very next hand. Villian has just sat at the table maybe 3 hands ago so no reads or stats. I feel like a UTG raise is pretty strong so I elect not to 3 bet my JJ (I feel like a leak of mine is overplaying JJ so I am trying to work on it). I have the same plan as before float any flops with one over hard and evaluate the turn and fold to any flop with 2 over cards. So when the villian bets more then half the pot I feel like he is protecting against the flush draw. I called to see what is going to happen on the turn and this is where I get lost in the hand. I guess what he is trying to tell me is that he has a K maybe with the A so that is a value bet. I dont think he is repping a flush here most of the players I see at this level check there made flush then bet the river. I mean AQx is def in his range maybe with the equity he just picked up on the turn that is what he is betting. Is this a bad fold? If I call the flop should I be calling the turn? Once he leads into me to times I dont really see what hands I am beating. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
1st hand:
half the time i would also flat there but half the time i 3bshove (its definetly the easier way to play the hand 😉
but when i flat i'd take a stab at this flop
2nd hand:
id also flat there, and i admit i often make the same call on the flop but i think it is not good. im interested how others would play the hand.
On the first hand the villain has 24bbs and so his opening range should be fairly tight. He is 27/8, which suggests he isn't all that competent (and so may not realise he has to tighten up with near 20bbs) but also is only raising his stronger hands. I think preflop you can either flat, shove or small 3bet with the intention of getting it in. So I think flatting with jacks in position here is fine. That is a pretty good flop for jacks, his check here may be suspicious but I think I am going to bet when he passes as I think he will fold a lot of the time. If he then raises then I am happy to let go of the hand, and if he calls and bets out on a later street then I am also fine to get away from it. I think it is possible that he is planning to check raise here with a strong flush draw, AhQh type hand, which as I said I am folding to but even there he would be a slight favoutire and Ah10h isn't far behind. If he has a smaller pair than you then I expect him to call your bet and then try to get to showdown, if he has a K then he will either raise now or will bet out on a later street. I don't think 44 is in his range for opening but if he does have that hand then I expect him to play it similarly to any Kx hand.
On the second hand I again think you could be 3betting or flatting, but with our stacks I am fine with a flat. I think I would play the hand the same way as you here.
1st: Think you played it fine except definitely throw a bet out on flop. Makes life so much easier. You have sound reasons for how you played the hand vs this particular villian.
2nd: I am 3betting this one. Villian is new but I like putting people to the test when they first get to the table and you are plenty deep enough for a nice 3bet. I make the 3bet big enough that it is hard to call and I fold if he has no problem coming over the top for his stack.
