Line check please…
Villain had taggy stats, not a huge sample.
We're never 3b/f here, I don't think ??
Comments on the overshove ? .. I felt we are getting it in good enough of the time to make this play profitable.
What did you make of the 4.5x from villain after the UTG limp?
vs an unknown in a smaller buy-in tourney i dont mind the line jamming b/c he's probably calling with the entire range he full 4.5x's with and this easily includes smaller pairs
but i wouldnt mind a small 3bet hoping those smaller pairs spazz out and shove, and on the odd occasion that he flats we can reassess post flop (in this instance it would be an easy decision obv)
3bet folding would probably be the last thing id do with this stack size but my preferred line would be 3bet call

Ususally I make two things of this bet sizing:
- Firstly this player has 'nfi' re bet sizing, therefore probaly has not much of a clue overall.
- Secondly, to me it usually means a small/med pair possibly up to 99, sometimes TT. AJ, AQo can show up also. Villain playing scared not knowing what to do.
What would you generally make of this hap vs an unknown ?

I don't think a smallish 3b would get a spaz shove here from weakish hands because even to go small we need to do at least 2k for the sizing and anyone who's been playing for a bit should understand it's a committing bet.
I think I'd rather shove and make it look like AK/AQ hoping every pair calls a shove where they might fold to a scary 3b size.
3b jamming here seems counterproductive imo.
Not much FE, he's obv never folding better hands, only worse.
Jamming negates our positional advantage. I prefer to calll here make my bigger decisions post flop with more info.
Generally I'm not against high variance plays, but I'd rather avoid them pre ante vs weaker opponents whenever possible.

One thing to also consider is how narrow we make our own perceived range by just calling here.
I would def never 3b/f here based on stack sizes. I think I like just shoving here the best as it makes our hand look more like an AK or AQ type hand and we may get calls from smaller pairs then we otherwise would. I don't think 3b/c is going to get smaller pairs to spaz shove as most rational players will realize we are committed. They may see a shove as a weaker play by us though and call with their 55-77 that they otherwise might not. If we do flat and the flop comes K high we are in a blah spot and are kind of playing a guessing game.
Can't fold – > Horrible
Can't 3b/f -> horrible.
Calling is pretty bad knowing you are going to see an overcard 73% of the time on unpaired boars and as said then what???
3B/c is not as bad IMO if the villain is super aggro, but with taggy stats….
Shoving is also my preferred option, I do think you get more underpairs to stack off this way, and you get whole value from AT+ hands that might find fold if they get 3bet or if called and miss the flop
