After seeing BigDog's video the other day where he wants preflop action with strong hands when he has 17+BBs I felt, upon review, that my shove here was horrible. Would a minraise be better?

This is a spot where I am usually opening rather than shoving. I am not insta shoving any hand I play based on my stack till I get down to 14-15bbs. I mean, shoving cannot be terrible but I think opening to 2250 or therabouts has more merit than shoving. I want to get 3bet or shoved on 4 handed with JJ not fold everyone else out.
Ya agree with Nairb….unless you have been open shoving a ton to this point and it would throw up red flags cause you open raised all of a sudden when you havent been at all, I'd just go ahead and open small here and give someone the opportunity to 3b you from the blinds which is probably going to be a jam on their part. Their 3b range here should be a lot wider then their calling range of your 22bb open jam.
