Villain is a good reg on the aggressive side of TAG. He probably sees me as TAG but has also probably seen me do dumb spazzy shit at one time or another. Since it's pre-ante I don't think he'll think I'm screwing around. Not sure if he thinks I'm capable of bluffing here.

I don't even necessarily think I'm behind here. I think he's got an overpair but want to make sure I fold out his AA/KK.
This river is obviously terrible for most of his range, and I really think he's got QQ+ (queens obviously being unlikely). EP ranges are generally pretty tight at this stage.
Please feel free to tell me what an FPSy abortion of a hand this is. I think I'm probably risking too much to try to fold out the small part of his range that has me beat, and the optimal play here is a call. Plus I don't have a specific read that he bets rivers for thin value or that he can fold a big hand. Haven't been in enough postflop spots deep against him.
So, probably not a great play…just wondering what everyone else thinks.

seems pretty spewy to me to be honest. If somehow you knew that has range comprised solely of overpairs, then I give you credit for a very good and creative play, but that would be the only time that this play makes sense, and obviously that range assumption was a mistake as he can show up with 6d3d here.
I can't remember playing with this particular villian before, so I can't really comment too much about his range here, but I would expect alot of villians to check behind overpairs on the river here a decent amount of the time, and I think you can be shown a flush in this spot on the river very often as well. I'm curious as to why you didn't put a flush in his range, as there are a lot of two card combos he could have that would give him a flush on this board, and it makes sense given the action.

This sort of play should only be reserved for when you have a TON of history with the villain imo
personally i dont like to just flat pre with QQ OOP when we are this deep. As the way it was played, i think his bet on the river is either an airball or a very strong hand (straight, flush or set) so I think you can't push him off AA or KK as he is checking those ones behind, so yeah +1 to doing this only if you have a ton of history with the villain
