This was deep in the Scoop low from Sunday. It was either the last or second last level before getting into day 2. less than 100 people left.

I am more interested in the action preflop and wether or not you 3bet, as 6's should be way ahead of his button range. If so would you make it bigger as we are OOP.

How does his stack size affect your decision here.

Or

Do you flat and check fold most flops

Or

Something else?

I have only moved to the table so do not have any info (3 hands)

I rip this in. Button is obv opening wide and you have a ton of FE being that it's close to day 2. Plus taking this down you increase your stack by almost 10%. You probably get him to fold A10 and worse. He's obv calling 99+ but we'll take that chance. If he calls with AQ+ we gotta win the flip. Easy stuffy baker.

ya same as J lude, im def jus rippin em into the center.. i dont like 3 betting because its so “standard” hes likely to pile over top with a pretty wide range, where as if we just rip it in he can only call bladed hands as it is day 2 bubble but we are also making him call off like 22 more biebs to play the hand.

we may get coolered sometimes but i think with the increase to our stack at this point in the tournament it makes it an easy pile

Once again This site is doing the business for me. As you can see from the intro I didnt even mention Shoving. I thought that its a bit much to shove and that option didnt even enter my head. Is this based purely on the Button v small blind dynamic or the bubble as well? Like are we shoving here at any tourney stage?

this factors in a decent amount imo, i am def not piling here at the beginning of the tournament

given the circumstances he is opening button which is commonly opened super wide espec on bubble, and while hes not SS his stack is big enough he isnt going to want to call it off light here at all (why J lude give him 99+ and AQ+) so by jamming you are getting him to fold such a huge % of his opening range from button….if he is a decent player he is prob opening 50-60% hand on button (on the lighter side) and only stacking off to your pile with ~4% of those hands he opens…not only this but we increase our stack by almost 10% when he folds, and even when he calls our hand has 30% equity vs even a 4% calling range

this is a super +Ev spot to rip it in his face and laugh imo

so yes it has a lot to do with the stage of the tournament and the effective stack sizes and also some ICM

i think tournaments are all about situations rather than cards, and this is a perfect situation you can be piling tons of hands very profitably (someone correct me if im wrong please….Bigdog where you at)

and bubble here refers to day 2 bubble, which i think in most lower buy in tourneys is a lot more exploitable than higher buy ins…in lower buy in people love the fact they can say they made day 2….but if this were around the money bubble i believe it would be the same situation and ICM is a lot more important

…i forgot it was day 2 bubble when i wrote above

Ripping it is good, dobt hate a commiting 3bet if he isnt flat happy and is competent. Without history jamming is best
Only problem with ripping in the midrange of our range is that it looks like exactly what it is

Also op whenever in the hand you ahould play the effective stack, ie shove/fold with100bb when everyone else has 10

ya this sucks, but if its the least exploitable line here, and we dont let him jam some stupid JT type hand thinking we may fold since we didnt ship
