Played in my first SCOOP event on Sunday it was the $27 L Over 28k runners and we are down to 294
I just got moved to the table fairly recently and only have 55 hands with most of the players. I was fairly unlucky with the table draw as I think I was 9th at the time and ended up with some big stacks but anyway.
The Villian is running 15/13/ 15% 3 bet over 55 hands, I have been tight 11/7/7.
I have stopped it on the turn for discussion, I also want to say that I dont like my bet size on the flop and was actually surprised to see it when I played it back. It was a mistake and I would normally bet slightly more, but I put it down to multi tabling and playing for 10+hours at that stage 🙂

What would you do now and how would you have played it differently?

yeah i like flop sizing, (43% by my math), i usually have it default to 40% but i think 35-45 is fine.
i also agree with duggs, c/c turn and river assuming diamonds miss
Did you think about just flatting pre? We are oop and too deep to play for stacks if he 4 bets. Seems like he will be flatting a decent amount since he has over 100bb and can play you in position. A good rule of thumb is to keep the pot smaller when you are oop with a marginal hand. I know 1010 has a lot of value preflop, but its value goes down the deeper we are, and there are a lot of flops we don't like. Since he has positon he may float us on a lot of flops just to take it away on the turn. This just puts us in a very difficult position where it's hard to know exactly where we are at. If this was a cutoff/button open then i would be much more likely to 3 bet a big stack open and maybe get it in, but he is raising from earlier position.
As played, I would probably check call turn and let him bluff because this is the type of board he would be likely to auto float us on because he would think it misses most of our 3 bet range. When he raises turn I think we either need to shove or fold. The pot will be 1.7million and we will only have a little under 800k behind. What range do we put the villain on? I think he would raise flop if he was slowplaying aa or kk, and he won't raise turn with 1010-qq. It looks like some kind of combo draw. maybe 910cc or something. I would expect him to raise a set on the flop as well to maximize his value if you have an overpair, considering the draw heavy board. Pretty gross spot, but thats why i think flatting pre is best. Honestly don't know what the optimal play is once he raises your turn bet. I think its more of a pair plus draw or straigh+flush draw he's raising with so i wouldn't hate a jam, but couldn't fault a fold and have 40+bb to work the rest of the tournament with either.
Thanks guys and great post pokerkids.
I think my problem with the flop cbet was that it was the exact same size as my 3bet pre, and I thought that maybe looked weak.
When I lead the turn The pot is $828.125 and I have $1,080,857 left
When he 3 bets the pot is 1,378,125 and if a flat I will only have 768,357 left and the pot is 1,690,625
As I’ve went over it I agree with pokerkids that I should jam or fold here. If I flat and another scare card for my hand (assuming im ahead at this point) hits the river. What do I do? 1.7m pot and I only have 768k.Although from memory the average stack at this time may have only been 600/700k. At the time I did not think of that, and to be honest from the point I stopped it at I dont know what I was thinking!
Duggs when do you mean 3bet getting it in?
Seems clear my3bet pre is the first mistake that led to the problems. I am actually hoping to take it down pre, but as said above he is so deep he can flat with a lot of hands IP. Then flop and turn were so pretty good for my hand so thats how I got into toubles.
Im gonna leave this for some more discussion then post the results.
