Is 36 bb too much to shove here as a squeeze? CO and btn have pretty wide ranges so is this fairly standard? Is calling bad here and what are thoughts on just putting in a 3b?

Ill put what I did after a few replies.

36bbs is a an awful lot to jam pre, moreso with this hand. Could raise large pre and still get away with plenty of chips if need be. Sucks to get called oop with a vulnerable hand if that happens and you apply max FE with this push pre so I don’t hate it either.

I would simply set mine. I think implied odds are good here.  3betting is my least desired option since a 4bet from either villain would put me in a very akward spot unless I am sure I would call, but even then you have to put the 4 bet range of one of the 2 as TT+, AQs+ AK against which we are not doing well. or if they flat your implied odds worsen anyway.

A shove is interesting but I think unnecesary at this point in the tourney.

A 3 bet squeeze I would do with premiums obv,  and some trash hands I dont mind letting go if they 4bet me or flat.

If your 3b shove is above 10x the raisers amount, then shoving prob wont be the most profitable option. There are some exceptions where a shove is ok if its up to 12x the initial raisers amount, but 10x is usually the max.

Call > 3B/Fold > Jam

Edit: Didn't see it's button to CO to SB. Make a large 3 bet because you'll scoop it most of the time.

right.   Call > 3B/Fold > Jam

we are getting a good price here, i would definitely call looking to hit my 8

then simply check fold if i miss or even depending on flop/action makeing a play to take the pot away.

If you 3bet, Kurt could call you light or reraise you cause he has 80+ bigs. I think I would jam or fold here. You don’t have the position and if he flats your 3 bet, then what? If you 3 bet and he reraises you have to fold. I think shove or fold.  I guess a call would be ok here as well. I think a 3 bet here is a bad idea.

Shoving is bad because it's such a spazz, high variance play to win like 5 bb.

Yes, he can flat if we make a big 3 bet but big deal… even if we cbet and have to shut down we still have close to 30 bb. Besides, we can't be too worried about him hood flatting if we're readless. A raise to 2.6k or 2.7k takes it down over 50% of the time, every time.

Would have needed more info on villains to start talking about that. I def. don't rule it out under the right circumstances but it's still pretty high variance.

Well I shoved but wasnt too sure that this was optimal. In the moment I felt it was the correct play but looking back on it I wasnt overly thrilled about shoving 36 bb pre like that. I think doing the same move with 30 bb is good and I 3b squeeze jam pre quite often in spots like this . 88 is doing well vs the CO big stack opening range and btn flat.

fwiw I was readless on villains as was multi tabling (shudnt be an excuse really ^^ but w/e we all do it!)

It seems as though the general consensus from posts is that 3b pre is the most optimal line then C bet and re-eval if called).

Is this one of those spots where any move is good except folding?

fyi…

We ran into TT from initial opener and bricked.
