Hi guys.  Is this a shove UTG with my stack?  My stats 15vpip/12pfr and everyone behind about the same except the button (47/10 over 51 hands) who doesn't know where the fold button is 🙂  I hate to shove with so many behind in case someone wakes up with a hand but only had 14bbs and Antes had kicked in….

(27 plr SNG non turbo, final table)

Ty in advance.

This go can go either way. In sng they play a little different then a regular tourney.  11 bbs in a sng aint bad. your M is around 5 so you have some time. You could wait till you were a little closer to the button and shove with a much wider range, i.e. J10s, 78s KQ, etc. by shoving and winning the pot your gaining 20% of your stack. So timing is everything, IMO you can fold here and still win this tourney. You could also shove as the blinds are coming. I don't hate either play. People at this level don't even like to call off 5bb stacks let alone 11. they want to wait for the money, so theyre folding a lot of hands. Although most are calling you with probably 7's and up and A10s +..to me Patience is very important here. But this play imo can go either way

Pretty standard fold here UTG with AJo IMO.  When you get called, 80% of the time you are crushed.  With 14 bb's you are fine really.  Like you said the table is playing pretty tight so your late position shoves from the cutoff and button will be much more effective.  I'd say AQo and 99 are the min I'm shoving UTG here.

I moved the thread to correct forum for you, so this should bring more feedback.  If it was suited I may consider the shove with regard to table dynamics. At these stakes, I like to try and see a cheap flop OTP with a hand like this, even if ahead you will be called by worse and get suckout on more times than not. Even if it cost me a couple of blinds I like to be IP or last to act, with a shove.

Yeah – the antes are tiny. If we were much later in the tournament AJo could be a potential UTG shove. You'll find better spots at this point.

Standard shove in a mtt I think but table dynamics definitely depend on that.  The fact that this is a SNG and the players are tight passive I don't like a shove UTG in this spot.  Antes haven't kicked in yet and you are really fine with 14 bb's imo.  I really think you could wait for a better spot and shove in late position a lot more profitably.  I fold but I don't argue against people who think you should shove in this spot.  If the table was pretty loose and they are capable of calling you with Ax then a shove is obv good.

I would jam AJ in MP with almost 15bigs here but not UTG, too many to act behind and not getting calls by worse hands often enough. Like lespaul said, this is a sng and patience is key.
