Soz about the rough HH but the convertor doesn't seem to be working.

Villian about 20/4 over only 25 hands but he's a solid winning player on Sharkscope over a good sample size.  I was sorta running over the table so thought I'd iso the fish who raised, but then got flatted by the villian. Gotta note here that my 3b pre was a misclick coz I meant to type 425 and missed a number so 888 rounded it up to a minraise.

My flop check was to make it look like I missed with AK etc but when he potted it on a dry board I'm thinking he has either 1010-jj or 99.  Can't imagine him just flatting pre with qq+ and then potting it on that flop.  I'm not folding to 1 bet so decided to call see what he did on the turn.  Once he bets pretty big on the turn, with the pot size I can't just call so it's a shove or a fold I reckon.  At this stage I'm 90% certain he has 99 and flopped a boat. I don't want to risk it with a good stack and an edge with these fishy players so decided to fold.  If he wasn't a solid player I'd assume he just has an overpair and also get it in.

He actually flashed his hand after so I'll post it later on 😛

I'm folding pre most of the time. Even if the “fish” is bad, he raised from EP, and in my experience, most would just be limping here with their weakish holdings (suited cards, any 2 broadway, small PP, etc. etc.).

As for our hand, I don't think we have to go to war with A5hh with an already aggressive image.  We're only in the HJ, don't have to win every pot pre-ante, and even if we make a hand (nut flush/wheel/trips) we are never really going to get paid off enough (not that we are doing it for this reason, but just interesting to note).

I mean I like the idea and am all for iso-ing bad players, (although I'd much rather do it with a hand that flops better and preferably over limpers, not as much EP raisers) it's good that we're trying to be aggro, but I just think that this is a spot we don't have to take for the reasons mentioned above.

As played, I'm like never folding when we get this flop.  If he has 99, GG, but I just think he's gonna be bluffing/barreling overpairs for value enough that we can't be folding.  He could easily have 99+, with 99 obviously being the only thing that beats us.  With the action on the flop, he could just be taking a stab on the flop (which is what I would do with my entire range fwiw, although his sizing is terrible) and then have backed into a set with 66 or something, but still don't think we can find a fold.

If we are not betting for value on this flop (like the best flop in the world for our hand), we need to be getting to a showdown.  We are trapping on the flop when we check, he takes the bait, we get a blank on the turn, and then we fold?

Please don't.

Not sure if I would play this hand from the current position after EP opened. Hate to limp if reraised later and not sure I would want to raise his open and be put to the test.  Unless I had control of the table and/or reads I think this would be a fold preflop for me.

However, as played I am never getting away from trip fives and that very well disguised board. If he has the nines good for him, more than likely he has an overpair or maybe A9,K9. I would check raised him post flop, I would name the price for the following cards because we are more and likely ahead.  If we are called we can rethink the strategy.

Thanks guys.  I'm outleveling myself with sharkscope when it really makes no diff at these stakes.  I'll be going with this every time from now on.

He had 1010 which was pretty obvious to you guys.  I def need to post more hands here coz this was a big mistake by the sounds!

Hey m@ddm@n

Firstly congrats on posting a hand you know you didn't play well.

Sometimes when I'm running really  bad, (like I am at the moment) I start to see the “monsters under the bed” syndrome. It's ok to feel like that, but don't act on it. eg Had KK and 4 times in a row & ran into AA. What do you do now next time you get 3bet holding KK? (heads up) Fold?? Of course not, but everything inside me wants to fold thinking AA again, all you can say to yourself “well gg me if he has AA again!!!!” and move on.

Like others have said, if he had the one hand that beat you then gg you and gl villian.

Good luck m8

Hey mate, i think you just need to start thinking about ranges for each street rather than putting him on a specific hand, the more action we observe, the more we can define his range based on assumptions of what he would do with certain hands.
