Villain is a winning player running 15/12/4.3   I know those are tight stats but I had raised the two previous hands, and I thought he might know that with my stack size I should never be flatting, therefor can 3B fold pretyy easily.  His 3B looked a little weak too because hes OOP and its not even a 3X 3B.

What kind of tourney is this? What stake? If you know him as tight/good player, what is making you think he wants to get out of line oop?

I believe your 4bet shove for 28bbs looks relatively weak to his small 3bet. If you had a monster why would you not 4bet small. I would 4bet small and fold to a 5bet shove if I decided to make a play here.

Based on what you know of the villian, I like fold to his 3bet the best.

Its a $26 superstack (5K starting chips). I just felt like i had been so AGG, and he could just 3B me here thinking I’m opening a uber wide range and I will fold often.

My hand has so much equity postflop and has a lot of showdown value, so I would much prefer flatting and taking a flop IP over 4B/F (not saying that is better or anything its just what my mind intitally tends to lean towards, intrerested in your thought on that).

But when i just 4B jam hes going to fold a LOT of better hands.

4bet-fold is out of the question with your stack. I don’t hate the shove, but it’s worth keeping in mind that 3bets from the BB are sometimes stronger than they seem because so many hands people like to use as light 3bets can also be profitable calls. I don’t get why you’re ruling out calling the 3bet as an option though.

Just depends on your read man. I don't know how it went in game but when a tight player 3bets oop, he usually has it. That is why I like fold best.

Reason I like small 4bet rather than 4bet shove is that small 4bet is not done much as a bluff at this stake and seems much more believable to me. Shoving is for your tourney life and less believable to an extent.

Flatting the 3bet is not the play imo because you do not gain any control in the hand and it is hard to hit flops. You will be somewhat flop dependent and folding to a cbet very often.

“You will be somewhat flop dependent and folding to a cbet very often.”

I know that you’re thinking in this case Villain has a strong range, but when you suspect Villain has a wider range, you don’t have to just fold every time you miss the flop. A player with a wide range is also going to miss a lot of flops. Also when you are getting very good odds to call preflop, playing fit or fold may still be more profitable than folding immediately.
