OK first I have read the thing about not posting badbeats (which this obv isn't). I don't give a hoot that I ran into AK and lost……I just wanna know if my thinking is off here.
Basically I've been looking at adjusting my shoving hands away from Ax and towards SC. Knowing that if I get called I'm normally a 40% dog rather than a 30% dog with Ax. However I'm not really sure where BB wise, position wise, and stage of the tourney wise this is appropriate.
The situation here is that there is 23 left in the comp, paying 9 (standard 90 runner FT SnG). 8 players at the table. I'm UTG+1 with 14 bigs and wake up with 97s I open shove. Am I too early position to do this? Can I wait another orbit and go through the blinds again? Is it a defo fold or shove? What's your thoughts guys….???

I often shove this at this stack size since the hand plays so well. And the fact that that there are only 8 players at the table made it more attractive to shove in this spot, imo. Also MP, MP2 nd CO are only calling you with monsters give their stack sizes, so I think that this is a excellent shove spot.

Perhaps, but I prefer to do this in later position. I have less hands to get through to get my folds. Let's be clear, we do not want anyone to call when we are all in pre with this hand, and the earlier the position we make this shove, the more likely we will get a call. The reason we do choose to use this type of hand to jam when we are short is if called, we have a hand that is connected, suited and most certainly live. This gives us a shot to hit something, but we are never ahead. I prefer to hold on and wait for a better spot.

I do, yes, especially when you look at the stacks at this table. I think my shoving range here is 6s+ JQs+ JKo+
Had the shove fest alrdy started with these players at this point? Meaning, every hand dealt was there a shorty jamming? I know personally, when this happens I tend to feel unnecessary pressure, like I have to get my shove in soon or I will be screwed…this tends to make me shove wider than I would objectively want. I feel it is a bit of a leak in my game, letting the pressure get to me…puts me into a mini tilt.

according to PushBot this is a fold even against a v tight calling range. If this is a turbo then you can defo fold and look for better spot as you will prob have Fold Equity down to about 9bbs. Just for completeness, this really only becomes a shove with this stack from the c/o.
