In a leaderboard. How should i think?

Im playing a european site that has a race all year long. For this march they have a extra-prize. The person that gets most points get a package for a live-tour.(so only 1 prize)
Its only 1 tournament left and im in first place for this month. The standings are VERY close to the next guy. How should i play this last tour? mega-ultra tight?

Once i tried to buyin and just blinded of.(i couldnt be there) That gave me like 20 points i think.

Depending on your place in the tour you get points like this:

5 * √ √B + 1 * (N – 1) / P

5 = Startpoints B = Buyin N = Number of players P = Finished place

Normally first place gets like 80-90 points. There are usally around 50 players in the tournamnent.

I think that I would play this not as a mega nit, but think a lot about the risk you are taking in each hand. This falls into that “Last Longer Bet” effect for me here, where you are going to adjust your play to last longer, rather than play optimally. If the end prize is significant relative to anything else, i would treat it like a sattelite and manage my risk to get as deep as I can. I think if you are starting to get deeper and you reach a point where you are mathematically a lock or heavy favorite then I would change gears for the win.

the buyin for the tour is 28$. And its played like a normal tournament.

The 1st prize in the race, in march, is a 1950$-package.
