maximus event. i been on a huge downswing for about a month now which not only makes me hate mtts but i been playing terrible to top it off. i forgot what it takes to run deep in mtts as if ive never played them before. anyway, enough of my banter….but its why i need help with this hand. im really confused but i hate folding overpairs to fish. villian was running something like 35/15/40. my image is good but it just doesnt matter to him anyway. I prob could have cbet flop more since if he caught a piece hes calling whatever sizing. am i ever ahead on the turn, and does it matter that i might have picked up some extra equity against 2pairs and lower straights?

Limp/call pf, so I guess hands like T9s and 33 are definitely in his range. But if he's running 35 VPIP his range has to be wider, right? Yeah, dude is a spaz so I'm stuffing this down his throat every time. Even if you're behind, you will have at least 4 outs, but I definitely think jamming is a +EV move.

i been on a huge downswing for about a month now which not only makes me hate mtts but i been playing terrible to top it off………….am i ever ahead on the turn……..

I think that the fact that you recognize you are on tilt due to your downswing is the first step to changing the trend.  In this particular spot, I assume you hadn't seen him make a play like this where you have been pretty aggresive every street and he bluffed by potting the turn.  That said, You know you are behind most of the time, so just fold, you lost 2600 and still have around 50 bbs to play with and stack the fish on a better spot.  If you didnt feel you had much of an edge or you were shorter or more committed I'd say stuff it in there.  but not here, even if he happened to have a worst hand if he is that bad you will get his chips soon.

I hate folding overpairs to fish

I think what separates good playes form the fish is exactly that they can fold hands like these. I personally found that when I have good results in a tourney it is as much because I was able to get away from hands like these in some spots without loosing my cool than it is about being aggresive in other spots.

Yeah I think being able to get away from this kind of a hand in a tourny is huge…so many draws on the flop and KQ is def in his limp call range add the flush and hands like J10, 910 that he is prob not folding if you jam the flop and you're in a tight spot…you have more than enough chips to wait for a spot that doesn't suck….it's just a real crap flop gl getting your groove back man

yea. i just dont know what a flop c/c, pot lead turn ever is. its a very weird line which i really havent seen much of if at all. id expect T9 to c/r flop and probably big draws like QJcc or J8cc. he cud have 33 but again prob c/r flop. from fish i dont doubt they show up with pair+draws like Q9/QT/J8 etc…so they pot it to commit themselves. im really confused cuz im trying to get into the mind of a fish to fly around their little brain to figure out their thought process, what little there is. are they like, “ok, i have two pair now i bet pot cuz their is flush draw out there.” or do they think, “he has AK, i have a him beat. I need to protect and not give him cheap card so i bet pot.”

simpletons, they make my skin crawl!

I think this kind of player (35/15) can take this line with TJ, 78, J9, even trips, or KQ who made a spewy call, hell even terribly slow played aces.  In general, any made hand of 2 pair, trips, straights that are afraid of being outdrawn.

IMO Even if you end up folding and they show 88 you are better of folding in the long run.

Tempted to spite get it in, but I think it's a fold.

The fact that you're on a downswing should not ever affect your thought process in any particular hand. It shouldn't even be part of the discussion. Obviously you're smart enough to realize this, but I don't think it should go unsaid ITT.

I would bet more on the flop on such a draw heavy board, about two thirds of pot. Cant see him having KQ, TT or 99 here [possible if he is really bad] — more likely to be j10 or t9 or 33 or 78. However, i dnt see him potting the turn with these hands, feels more like 88 to me.  Im prob folding here, got enough chips to wait for better spot.
