Hey guys,
New here, and I was doing a hh review on my own of a 1 rebuy I was playing earlier tonight that I FT’ed. This hand happened relatively early in the tournament; villain was extremely loose passive, running a 36/4, so we expect him to be calling extremely wide out of the blinds obviously and being quite spewy. I went back to this hand because I remember being pretty confused as far as my line on each street, and I was hoping I could get your thoughts. I’ll break it down with my thoughts per street (which, forgive me for my naivety in the matter). Obviously leaving out, for now, what he ended up having, as I don’t want it to influence feedback.

*** FLOP *** [4h 6h As]
b4udielove: bets 414
rocksolid421: calls 414
I think this call is pretty standard, and not much confusion at this point. Obviously not raising here (in my opinion), as I don’t really think we get better to fold, and we could be folding out a ton of hands that we have crushed right now.
*** TURN *** [4h 6h As] [7d]
b4udielove: bets 690
rocksolid421: calls 690
This is where the confusion began. With this type of player and at these stakes, I don’t really see a ton of weak holdings double barreling, and I perceived this as strength, especially from a player we already determined is loose but passive. Perhaps some weaker aces do this; PERHAPS some flush draws/pair+draw combos, but I think at these stakes, I see a lot of passivity with the majority of those draws after I call his donk lead on the flop. Thoughts on the call here?
*** RIVER *** [4h 6h As] [7d] [9h]
b4udielove: bets 1,150
rocksolid421: calls 1,150
I actually tanked on the river. Looking back, I kinda think I could find the fold button, but I did not on this occasion. I don’t know much that I’m beating to this passive player’s triple barrel. Again, this isn’t hand influenced, as I was going to post this hand whether I won or lost it.
Forgive me if this is just a super standard spot and I’m over analyzing it lol.

Nice post, welcome!
We can infer from his stats/image that he’ll call pre with too wide of a range from the SB, and we are expecting him to c/f flops a tonne with him being loose/passive.
On the flop we can feel pretty happy since his range will likely include weaker Aces, 65s, 54s, hearts, gutshots and even some off-suit connectors that flopped a piece, maybe – he’s wide anyway, and we’re doing well against that range. He can have sets and probably all the two-pair combos in there too (if we think he’ll call pre as wide as 64s). He may not donk lead with the strongest part of his range, but we can’t discount it.
He gets to the turn with quite a wide range, therefore, because he calls too wide pre, which in turn means he’ll donk lead the flop with quite a weak range, when he flops a small piece.
We then have a decision OTT as to whether we make a exploitative fold, because we think V will only fire again with the hands that have us beat, which you mention, or whether we call again because he’s got to the turn with an overall range too weak and doesn’t want to/can’t just c/f every time.
I’d call the turn and see what he does on the river. Some gutshots that I guess he could have some (probably small) % of the time just got there, 76s made two pair, but he can have weaker Aces and draws he doesn’t want to c/f.
OTR the hearts get there, A9 improved too stripping a weaker Ace from the equation, and I would fold. A loose passive player has fired again and we’re not beating much.
What was you putting him on when he bets the river?

Thanks for your feedback!
As far as what range I’m putting him on, this is my biggest leak. Reading hand histories after a session, I can look at this hand and realize that I’m not beating a ton in his range and should likely fold. I would compare it to a golfer who hits the ball great on the range, but in real time on the course, shanks everything. Though I don’t remember my thought process completely, I’m sure I figured him to have some weaker ace, and made a crying call, without even really thinking that even if I put him on a weaker ace, a lot of those weaker aces even beat me with two pairs.
I have a really tough time sometimes translating hand reading from reviews off table to actually hand reading on the table…gotta fix that.
@Gsmyth5: we are expecting him to c/f flops a tonne with him being loose/passive.
That seems rather contradictory.
Im happy with folding river as I dont think many loose/passive villains playing 36/4 are going to donk fire 3barrels with a weaker ace/draws. I would need to have seen this villain take this line or showdown a weak hand in a similar line before I am adequately satisfied with calling off a third barrel here.

What I mean to say is that he'll call pre a lot and then c/f flops as he'll play fit or fold.
