Ok, so maybe this is either the simplest question ever, or a more complex question then it appears, but I want to know how to study effectively.
I was never a very good student in school, so perhaps this is a basic question that was answered to most people in their developmental years. I've heard basic tips about studying all over the place but nothing seems to get down to the root of it. I hear “Go over hand histories before you start playing for the day,” or “Go over hand histories after your session.” That all sounds well and good, but what are you looking for, where are the spots that you're looking at? Biggest losses? Biggest wins? Well then how do I find the spots where I'm not getting the full equity I could have/should have gotten? (I'm a PT4 user btw, I don't think that will neccessarily change anything, but it's information….)
Also, what are you doing on a daily/weekly basis to improve YOUR game? Are you just studying your own HHs? Are you watching other TPE/Other unmentioned sites videos? What do you do to impliment those new concepts into your game? How much are you studying the game vs. playing the game?
Thanks in advance,

Hello,
Well there is a ton of ways how you can improve your game, but it should be not one time thing, you should set ~2+ Hours/Week for your poker studies.
Personally for my, the best way to improve is to go trough my own HandHistories (UniversalReplayer is really good program to do that). If you look carefully you're always gonna find something that you could play differently (Loose less / Extract more value / Take or Skip some spots), also if it's hard for you to analyze your own hand histories, you should try to a find poker buddy which could help you with that and you could analyze each others hand histories.
My second choice would be poker videos, just because I like to see the other players thought process.
Third choice would be poker books, but in my opinion the downside of poker books is that game is improving really fast, so if you start reading 10 years old books I don't think it will be beneficial.
My personal favorite tournament poker books is 'Winning Poker Tournaments – One Hand At a Time Vol1,2,3'
Mindset/Work Ethic Books – 'Treat your poker like a business' 'The Poker MindSet' 'Mental Game Of Poker'
Also do not forget interact with community, discuss tough spots in forums, try to get poker buddy so you could discuss strategy whenever you want.
Hope this helps, good luck!
