From my previous posts, I’m sure you can tell I’m still learning. Prior to Dec 2012, I played 1-2 times a month at local casino, after Dec 2012 I found a local poker club and play live poker there 3-5 times a week. I went to WPT boot camp Feb 2013, I now track every session for cost and winnings. In May of 2014 I did a excel graph of my 2013 versus 2014 results and was pleasantly surprised at my significant improvement in cost/winnings.

Now for one of my “REAL” weakness.. I limp to much and can’t get out of it. If a bet is within 5% rule and I have a speculative hand I limp, if I have a hand that I have won at before like suited 10,9 or 9,7 or J 9, or any broadway, I can’t stop wanting to see the flop, so I call the bet, limping. At the club where I play, if try to stop limping by instead raising at 2 1/2 , 3 times or more from the blinds, I often get 3,4 or 5 callers, I miss the flop and can’t continuation bet against that many callers so I fold and lose my bet, its costly. I have been told by locals that I am the tightest at the table, but I get lots of callers, but they call my bets anyway. Suggestions please..

I won’t discuss hand ranges this time, but I don’t think many players at my club use hand ranges, in private conversation it never comes up, only “ I put so and so on Ace King etc”.

Just stop. Cold turkey. The next time you play, don't ever limp. In truth, there are some situations where it can be correct, but you can work on adding those back into your game later. For now, forget about this “5% rule” you picked up somewhere (I think I know what you're talking about, and it's wrong), only play strong starting hands, and raise when you have them.

Expect this to be a lot more boring than what you're used to. You are going to see far fewer flops and do a lot more folding. Good poker is often kind of boring, and if you decide that you care more about excitement than winning money, craps is the place to go for that.

The way I look at limping is: How are you supposed to win pots and represent a range of hands you never have?

Agree with Pierre. Just stop cold turkey. If action is folded to you, raise if you are entering the pot. Worry about adding in some late position limps etc once you work hard on the rest of your game.
