Hey guys,

Every friday night there is a local $20 buy in tournament at a local cossie club. Its great fun and there is about 30 ish players each week. The problem is, is that the structure is very weird and a 10BB stack is often average or above average after an hour or hour 30ish. I have been there a few times and is struggling to find the best approach to this tournament. Currently i have been very TAG, trying to get value out of my big hands but is just not working too well. Below are the chip stacks and blind levels, please let me know how i should be approaching this, thanks.

Starting stack is 10k. chip increments are 25,100,200,500,1000,2000,5000,10000

Blind levels change every 15mins (no antes at all)

25/50

50/100

100/200

200/400

300/600

500/1000

1000/2000

2000/4000

4000/8000

5000/10000

as you can see, the blinds increase stupidly in the last 5 levels.

Get good at push/fold. You're likely the only person who has a clue that theres an element to nlhe before post-flop.

Get really familiar with this as a baseline. (Set structure to '1' for pure chip EV calculations).  Then make adjustments at the table on your reads as best you can.  Are they folding too much?  Push more.  Are they calling too much?  Tighten up a bit.

When in doubt, lean towards the more aggressive/riskier option.  In a structure this fast, its better to make a high variance mistake than a low variance one, if that makes sense.

Just gamble, gamble, gamble.

agree with the above – you have to take just about every flip that is offered to you

having said that, you will still have fold equity with a 6bb stack, as unbelievable as that sounds.
