hey

This is a super turbo , i did the maths and if v is shoving around 71% of hands , we will have 46% equity. we are getting 1.4 to 1 on the call pre so we only need 41.7% equity to break even.

I know it seems pretty wide to call off with Q7 but it really does become a strong hand against such a wide shoving range which is very likely since v is on the sb, they may even be shoving more then 71% maybe even any two.

cheers.

anyone okay with a call here?

Yup Qx with a 7bb shove, I’d guess.

If you are fine with variance then it is a mathematically fine call I think. I prefer to call off a little tighter though, like if it was Q9 I’d like it more because you dominate more hands and the hand runs out better being connected.

I guess you don’t have a lot of FE after the hand, fold or lose, so you might as well try to win to have a better stack. And if you assume wider ranges because it’s a freeroll, I guess it’s OK. I’d rather be the one shoving than calling, though.

Aren’t we essentially passing up on equity when we fold +ev hands?

If we have a range of hands that we call with in these spots, aren’t we doing ourselves a disservice by shaving off parts of it because it happens to be the bottom of said range?

To me it depends on how good you are versus the competition. The smaller +EV spots will increase your variance, which is fine if you’re playing against people better than you.
