following watching some of the training videos on hyper turbo 6 max games i thought i would give them a go. This situation has came up a few times since ive been playing them.

I get heads up. So im in the money. 2nd pays around double your stake. First pays around 3 and a half times your buy in.

Stacks tend to be around 8-12 big blinds each. Villian shoves and i have a small pair. Say up to as good as pocket 6s.

Is this an auto call with 10bb because its a pair? Most of the time the villian will have just 2 over cards. Is flipping for my life a plus EV play here? Or shall i fold and look for a better spot?

Sorry if this is really easy to understand. Im new to TPE so go easy on me.

I don’t play these but in my sit go days this would be a snap call

Also shoving super wide with these stacks

Check out Holdem resources for Nash shoving ranges

There’s some videos by Dave emmons where he uses this

Call this every time.

What would villain's shoving range be here?  I would think 55+, Ax, K7+, QT+

Vs. this range you're a 52% favorite, and this is good enough when short stacked in a hyper-turbo.

Against some villains you can even remove premo hands like QQ+ and AK or AQ that they'd rather raise to elicit a reraise or call, so your equity could be a bit better than the 52% above.  You could even include 22+ in their shoving range, and T9+.

Thanks for the post,

Wacky

If the opponent is not really tight then I'm calling with all pairs.  If the opponent is decent he should be shoving A2+ and maybe some suited Ks and Qs which means some pairs are not flipping.  66 is definitely a snap because he'll likely be shoving 22-55.

Thanks guy. I have been calling every time in this spot. To nick a line from the podcasts “I just needed a line check on this”

Playing $88 hyper turbos on Stars defines my shoving and calling ranges today…Probably one of the most useful parts of my play today…the more you play, the more you get what you should be auto-shoving and folding…just keep playing! I think the edge from these comes from taking advantage of shoving on similiar stack sizes.

Any preflop shove spot is just a math problem. Figure out your pot odds, figure out your equity, and make the call. I know nothing about heads-up hyper turbo play but I'd never ever ever be folding 66 heads-up for 12bb, and even 33 or 22 are probably calls as well vs most opponents.

Any pair is more than likely a call in this situation and is “standard”.
