Got into weird situation what do you do here?
Blinds: 100/200
Hero 8200 (UTG +2)- Kd Jh
Raises: 425
Villian 12500 (Cutoff): Calls
SB: Folds
BB: Folds
Flop- 2c 4s Jd
Hero bets- 535
Villian Calls.
Turn- Qs
Hero bets- 875
Villian Raises- 2000
Hero-??????

Im not really sure what is the right move here, I don’t know how comfortable I am with feeling I’m ahead. I think he could play QJ like this or AJ, also there is some queens in his range he could be floating. Feel like it could be a good chance to re raise and fold to all in if I had more chips but I don’t think I have enough chips to do that here. Also if I call him I’ll be facing a sticky situation on river bet and probably have to fold. What do y’all think? Thanks for help.

Other hands in his range could be spades (65, J8, J9, KT, KJ) but also 22 or 44. You’re getting better than 4:1 to call the turn bet so I’m thinking he isn’t afraid that you have spades. But then what happens on the river? You’re going to get put all in if you check (regardless of whether the draw completes, perhaps), and if you shove the river I don’t think worse would call. I don’t know what the answer is.

What’s in your range? Big pairs and big spades for sure. KJo is the bottom of your range when you bet the turn because I don’t expect you to double barrel 55-TT. I feel like your hand is face up.

I hate the turn bet..that’s a check. Also, ask yourself, before you bet..if I get raised, what am I doing here? Try to get to showdown.

joelshitshow- I think we can eliminate spades and KT from his range because of how strong Im perceived to be.  Me double barreling should show him enough strength that im ready to get it in vs him.  I think if he raises a draw and I have aces or kings im probably shoving and then shutting down his draw chance, also Im very likely to pay off his backdoor flush/straight if i do have one of these pairs. His raise tells me hes ready to get it in vs the top of my range. I really think this is 22, 44, or QJ.

Subfocused-  Agree looking back i probably should check, but then I pretty much have to call then check and call again if river bricks correct? In hind sight my turn bet seemingly saved me chips lol

Good discussion here. I agree with checking the turn and, as played, folding to raise.

jrob,

I wouldn’t say that you “have to” call the turn/river, I’d say you “get the option to”. Of course check-calling will lose money when he actually has a big hand, but the plus side of checking and calling is that you also give him a chance to bluff. If you don’t think he’s bluffing or betting worse often enough to call, then you can fold.
