I was  wondering if anyone had Guildeline for MTT along the lines at 10 bb you should be looking to do X   at 30bb you shoud be looking to do Y . Just looking for a loose guideline

Thanks

look at the theory videos, there are at least 4 on short stack play.

for deeper stacked play, maybe look at any video that is in early stages

This is the framework I start with, its purely mechanical  , no table dynamics, opponent stack size ect ect have been factored in yet…

For 10BB and below I have used the jcm4ccc shove charts. Its a few years old so not sure if it has been updated lately but its what I use as a rough guideline.

11-20 BB when antes kick in: Any position : I raise/reraise allin with 88 to AA AK – KQs. Late position : FTA I go allin with any face card suited , any Ax, any 2 cards higher than 9. Late position : I reraise allin with all any position cards,  A9+ KJ,KT,QJ

30 BB + same as above but I mix in playing suited cards in position and set mine lower pairs if I can get in cheap.

Must admit TPE videos have me change my pattern every time I watch one……

Not saying these are even remotely valid for how BB levels should be played. Posted this in hope someone blows holes in my ranges so I can fix my own game.  laugh

It is hard to have a set strategy, because the dynamics change from game to game.  It really depends on the other players and how you react to them.  The best tool you can take from game to game is oberservation of the other players, after you have a read apply what you have learned from TPE. I know it sounds vague but if you play because of your stack size all the time you could be missing oppurtunities or creating them for someone else.

The book Harrington on Holdem vol 2 was a groundbreaking book that covers this topic very thoroughly. Some of the info is a bit dated, but it's definately worth a read.  I would pay more attention to the concepts in the book and not as much what to do with specific hands, because a lot of that has evolved.

Thank you everyone for your input. I have read Harrington but like you say bit dated. M is a pain to use. I have been watching videos (helps alot). Was always just a average low limit player. In just the short time on here have seen my game move 2 levels up.   Looking forward to WSOPC coming to StLouis
