Live Tourney –

I forgot to add ANTES into video – so there is 3000 more in the pot ( 300 antes with 10 people)

Also – I had only been at the table for about 2 orbits. Most of the players at table, including all that were involved here were fairly straight fwd players.

HERE IS THE HAND

trying to assess whether this was a good spot to go for chk raise and if sizing was OK.

dont like flop and dont like turn.

8 is way better for their range as we are never x/r 8 on flop.

Why do you not like a check raise on the flop?

Would you prefer a check call? Do you put the short stack villains on a draw?

My limited experience makes me wonder whether techniques are being misapplied. For example, what other hands are you check raising with besides TPGK? Does it make sense to do it with so many in the flop? Does the original bettor’s stack cause you to check-raise a smaller amount?

What would you have done if a flush card hit the turn?

On the flop I don’t like c/r out of position in to so many people. I’m not feeling more than mediocre about my kicker after a bet at 2 calls. My kicker is a combo blocker which makes me even more worried the calls are not draws. Still, I think I have good showdown value and just call. Re-evaluate on the turn.

I suppose you can get 8s to fold and keep the draws in with your bet on the flop (you didn’t say what the buy-in was but if this is anything like the local tournaments here then draws are super sticky). This is awfully results-oriented though as you might bet worse Qs out too. Regardless, I’m not sure what the all-in is designed to do. It turns your hand in to a bluff, representing the 8, and I don’t think that was necessary (and probably overly risky since you block a lot of hands except the 8).
