Hey, this hand was in the EPT main Day 1a, late on in the day as this was the end of the penultimate level.

The table has been quite passive as a whole, with probably an average of <1 3bet per orbit.

I had a very passive post flop image, I've shown AA after check-calling 2 streets and generally have been check folding alot. I was playing very tight pre.

The villain was a good pro who was saying he plays the entire EPT circuit for past 2 years. He's been looser pre flop, continuing aggression post.

I started hand with ~77k, and he started with ~ 60k at 250/500/50 blinds

I have Jdiamond10heart

Action folded to me in CO, I open to 1100, folded to villain in BB who calls.

Flop: QheartJheartxheart

He checks, I cbet ~1300, he calls.

Turn: 9diamond

He checks, I bet 2350, he calls.

River: Aclub

He donks 6200, I raise to 14400.

My thinking behind the bluff was he donks with zero monsters and therefore he either has a value hand or bluff and I figured I could get either to fold with a raise.

Thoughts?

I like it. This should be near the bottom of your range on an Ace river, you've got some good blockers, etc. I'm not sure I agree about him never leading monsters, esp if you have a passive image, but I think it's a good raise regardless. Could see him having Ah X or two-pair planning to bet-fold vs a player with your image.

For the first time ever i disagree with Andreww !!! Yayyy time for confrontation (i dont think it s the right word but it s late im from the cell and im too lazy to use wordreference) and growth!!!

I mean i agree with his analysis of villains hand but… really what are we rapping ? A flopped flush ? AQ doesnt bet the turn, QJ 99 j9 dont bet.that small ott plus dont raise river ( i mean i would never raise rhose for value is this wrong ?), again KT (are we raising kt otr ? Again i would not but maybe it s a mistake) unless is KThh doesnt bet that small ott and i could argue that neither does it a small flush…

A flopped flush. I agree that turn bet should be larger, but I still think that a player with a nitty image will get enough folds.

Now that i think about it …dont you think that a good player like OP described villain to be ( let's say a player at your same level Andrew) should be check folding all those weak two pairs, Ahx hands vs a player with a nitty image ?

Not necessarily, especially considering Hero's sizing. I could see Villain showing up with AJ/AQ.

I was thinking this hand over in hotel later that night and decided it was a good bluff met by a better call – and my thought was to rep a flopped flush/strait.

He went into the tank for 5-10minutes and called with a set of 9s.

And I do think K10o can raise the river with the Kheart and maybe even 10heart – and playing K10o with a heart would in my opinion make sense in the early stages of the hand also.

Thanks for thoughts 🙂
