does good regs 5bet bluf often?

today go deep in Saturday 27s KO.I had 50bb 200 men left and blow it….

didint believe in reg 5bet (reg name “lehout”). he was always 3beting me when I open abaut 3 hands in a row. and when I get 99 I 4bet him, he min 5 bet me (his stack 100bb.) and I shove .. he had AA. I know thats probably terible move 50bb 99. I need to work with my tilt. probably to any other guy I fold to 5bet. but he was agro. some advices?

So you told us the effective stack was 50BB, but can you give us the some more info?  What positions were you in?  What were the size of the OR, 3bet, 4bet, and 5bet?  Do you have any HUD data on the villain, or just the read that he was 3betting you a lot?

I haven't played this tourney, is the knockout at all relevant with 200 people left and these stack sizes?  If so, how big is it compared to the EV of a chip?

Depending on the answers to these questions, I could see a fold, flat, 6bet/fold, or shove all being correct here.

As for the general question, 5bet bluffs should theoretically come at the bottom of his 3bet for value range, just below 3bet/calls.  Obviously you are jamming here hoping for a fold, as his calling range is almost entirely overpairs.  If you want to have a 6bet bluff range, I think hands like JQs, JTs would be better candidates (if they are in your 4bet range), as they fare better against a calling range of high pairs and AK.

How had you reacted to previous 3 bets?

If it's your first 4 bet then his range becomes stronger because your range has become stronger.

With his stack he doesn't have lots of incentive to run a big bluff and ruin both his stack and his image.

At this point in the MTT the KO's really don't mean much anymore so I wouldn't give that too much weight.

Positions?

3 bet sizing?

Those are the two glaring details I see left out.

IP, I dont mind flatting a lot of 3 bets this deep as 99 just isnt really fun to get in 50 BBs with.  OOP depnding on sizing I can see a flat or even a 4 bet(with the intetion of calling a shove), one he 5 bets but doenst shove this is a silly spot, and part of the reason you will see so many regs do this.

Theortically, if he is good he does 5 bet here as a bluff sometimes, as any non all in bet should have some bluffs in it(and even a vast majority of all in bets).  With that said not a lot of people actually do it, you will mostly see this with purely the nuts(KK+).  I think we can take away TT-QQ from his range though.  So he has 6 combos of hadns we are worried about, so/  Rough mental math tells me we expect a 100 BB pot and to win 20BB of that against his overpairs(99vAA is a 20/80), so we expcet to lose 30bb, assuming his 5 bet sizing is too about 17-18 BBs, he needs almsot twice as many combos of bluffs as he has value, so like 11-12 combos.

If you think he has that, then go for it, I dont know if many regs will though.
