From tonight’s 5k GTD on WSOP, 35 left, 20 paid

Me: CO, 40k
VIllain: UTG+1, 140k (CL)

six handed, blinds 1k/2k-200, no SB, just one BB

PF: Villian raise to 4k, I call, BB folds. pot 11.2k
Flop: Th 3h 2s, VIllian bet 5678, I call. pot 22.5k
Turn: 5c, Villian shoves, I call with 6d 6h. Villian shows Ac Qh
River Ah

In retrospect, I think I should have shoved the flop. The flop didn’t hit much of his UTG+1 opening range, which I put at any two broadway, any pair, and a few mid suited connectors. I was planning on shoving the turn. I made a good read and got it in good, but did I play it wrong or just get unlucky? Thanks

You really should not be flatting here pre flop unless you are really comfortable post flop.

6 handed this is probably fine to just shove, esepcailly if he is somewhat aggressive.

I am not a fan of flatting, becuase we get ourselves in these spots post where every deciions is meh.  I think flatting flop is better than raising, and then as played turn is a meh call.

Yeah 66 is pretty strong 6 handed, especially when the chipleader is opening. I would be more comfortable shoving into his utg open in general than anyone else at this stage because I would assume his opening range is wider, putting the pressure on short handed, being deep. By shoving (you have plenty of fold equity), you increase your stack by ~20% (which is very significant at this point) the times he folds. The times he calls, you are flipping a lot and if you win that flip, you are putting yourself in the position to make a run at the final table or a W. If he has a better pair unlucky or just hit your 6 😀 GL

Thank you both for your replies.  I guess I didn't shove because he had so many chips that I was sure he'd call with any 2 cards and I wasn't thrilled about flipping.  Villian had been very loose and I was willing to try to hit the board with a low pp.  I'm definitely shoving with 10-15BB but sometimes with 20BB and a decent hand I try to hit a flop.  Definitely an adjustment I need to make to my game to start shoving 20-25BB more often.  Thank you again!

if hes folding ever its very profitable. if hes calling with any two its wildly profitable.
