While I don’t like GII so deep pre with AK, I think this is a spot where I would flick it in.
My logic is that he could easily think that we are light iso’ing vs the limpers. His raise is so big, I dont ever put him on AA, or KK, so we can easily GII here smashing or racing.

Yeah, I agree with StrugLife here, although I think his range is a little tighter than that. I think he can have KK+ here occasionally, and I think we’re rarely ‘smashing’ him at all. The problem, though, is that we have very limited information, there’s a ton of money in the pot, and he made it so big that we can’t just flat and take a flop. So we’re simply in a position of folding (neutral EV) or shoving, which I suspect is perhaps not massively +EV, but enough so to be preferable to folding.
I would recommend running this hand through the SliceEV fold equity calculator, so that you can calculate how wide the villain’s range needs to be in order for us to get it in profitably. I would think that as long as he has JJ, QQ and AK in his range here (which I think many villains probably do), we should be fine getting it in. But don’t take my word for it. The math is king. 🙂
I think this is fine as some villains do have a 4bet bluff range in this spot. I prefer the 5bet shove because it hurts to fold a hand such as AK when we whiff the flop. If this villains range is only JJ+, AK we are slightly behind (60/40) however if his range would even include the occasional TT or AQ it becomes a much more profitable spot.
